KB Financial profit rises 13.1% to 1.9075 trillion won in third quarter
Key Facts
KB Financial Group said net profit attributable to owners of the parent company reached 1.9075 trillion won in the third quarter of 2026, up 13.1% year on year, according to ChosunBiz. The result was higher than 1.686 trillion won in the same period last year. But it fell 4.3% from the second quarter, when it recorded 1.9922 trillion won. This measure distinguishes profit attributable to owners of the parent company from the total net profit reported in the disclosure. The quarter’s performance therefore combined year-on-year growth with a decline from the previous period.
For the first nine months of the year, cumulative net profit attributable to owners of the parent company reached 5.7921 trillion won, up 13.1% from 5.1217 trillion won a year earlier, according to ChosunBiz. Net interest income over the same period also rose 2.9% to 9.9853 trillion won, compared with 9.7049 trillion won in the corresponding period, according to Edaily. The report attributed the growth in interest income to an increase in loans, particularly corporate lending at the main bank. Net commission and fee income rose 38.5% to 4.09 trillion won in the first nine months, driven by improved brokerage revenue at KB Securities and higher sales of investment products at KB Kookmin Bank, according to The Korea Herald. Fee income, however, declined in the third quarter as stock-trading activity cooled, the newspaper reported.
Third-quarter indicators showed a divergence between profitability and net interest margins: operating profit was 2,367,289 million won, up 1.38% year on year but down 12.73% from the previous quarter, according to the company’s disclosure in the DART system, as reported by Gongsihub. Total net profit was 1,913,172 million won, up 15.58% year on year, a measure separate from net profit attributable to owners of the parent company. The group’s net interest margin was 1.92%, compared with 1.72% at KB Kookmin Bank; both declined 0.02 percentage point from the second quarter, according to ChosunBiz. On capital distribution, the board approved a quarterly cash dividend of 1,167 won per share, totaling 404.9 billion won, according to The Korea Herald. In the market, KB shares closed at 115.38 dollars on October 28, while Oriental Land shares closed at 19.94 dollars on the same day, according to EL7 data.
