Kymera Posts Quarterly Loss, Reports $1.6 Billion in Liquidity Through 2029
Key Facts
Kymera Therapeutics reported its third-quarter financial results on October 29, 2026, posting a net loss per share, while EL7 data showed the stock closed at $122.51 on October 28, up from $117.57 the previous day. Both closes came before the results announcement and therefore do not reflect the market’s response to it. Available open sources did not establish a comparison between the results and analysts’ estimates, so they cannot be described as missing expectations. Instead, the financial report highlights rising research spending, while the company points to KT-579 trial data and its cash balance as key elements of its update. The company also outlined upcoming dates for clinical trial results and a preclinical data presentation.
Research and development expenses totaled $128.509 million in the third quarter of 2026, compared with $74.094 million in the same period a year earlier. Kymera attributed the increase mainly to investment in its STAT6 program and platform and discovery programs, along with growth in its research and development team. This item reflects the resources the company is directing toward developing its therapeutic assets while it continues to rely on progress across its experimental programs. By contrast, the company said cash, cash equivalents and investments totaled $1.6 billion on September 30, 2026. It expects this balance to fund operations through 2029, according to its statement published on October 29. This financial runway gives the company room to continue its announced programs, while upcoming clinical readouts remain key milestones to watch.
For the KT-579 program, Kymera said multiple doses in the Phase 1 trial showed median degradation of the IRF5 protein in blood of at least 90% across multiple dose levels. It added that reductions were similar in the skin. On Day 14, TNFα inhibition was 88%, IL-12/23p40 was 87%, IL-1β was 94% and IFNβ was 98% in a median analysis of the dose cohorts. The company said the safety profile was similar to placebo, with no serious or severe adverse events and no events leading to treatment discontinuation. These results are from a Phase 1 trial and do not in themselves provide evidence of therapeutic efficacy in patients. Kymera said the data supported continued development of the program, without attributing the stock’s move recorded before the results announcement to them.
For KT-621, the company said enrollment is ongoing in the Phase 2b BREADTH trial in moderate-to-severe eosinophilic asthma. It expects to announce topline results in late 2027. Kymera also scheduled an oral presentation of preclinical data for KT-579 at the American College of Rheumatology meeting in Orlando, set for November 6–11, 2026. These dates follow the third-quarter results announcement and provide defined milestones for tracking the company’s programs. The KT-621 topline results announcement remains a future milestone, while the upcoming KT-579 presentation is limited to preclinical data. The company thus links its rising research spending and reported liquidity through 2029 with a set of development catalysts extending into next year and beyond.
