Iovance Presents Positive Lung Cancer Treatment Data, Targets Revenue of Up to $420 Million
Key Facts
Iovance Biotherapeutics said it will present results it described as positive for lifileucel in previously treated patients with metastatic non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer, in a webcast the company scheduled for Thursday, October 29, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. Eastern Time. The announcement concerns the registration cohorts in the Phase 2 IOV-LUN-202 trial, which is testing a one-time immune cell therapy. The company published the announcement on October 28, ahead of the scheduled webcast. Its shares closed at $14.81 on October 28, according to EL7 data. The available information therefore does not support describing the stock's move on October 29 as a decline caused by disappointing results; the company also characterized the upcoming results as positive before presenting them.
The announcement ahead of the webcast did not include response rates or safety details, making figures previously published in the company's annual report the available point of comparison before the presentation. In an initial update dating to November 2025, lifileucel recorded an objective response rate of 25.6% and a disease control rate of 71.8% among 39 evaluable patients. After a median follow-up of 25.4 months, median duration of response had not yet reached an estimable level. These preliminary results predate the data the company said it would present from the registration cohorts and are not, in themselves, figures from the new announcement.
Iovance designed IOV-LUN-202 as a global, single-arm Phase 2 study, targeting about 80 patients in the two registration cohorts to support a potential accelerated approval application. This places the lung cancer data within the company's effort to test lifileucel beyond its use in melanoma, although the announcement of the presentation date did not provide enough detail on the new trial results. Standard-of-care results cited in the annual report provide comparative context: docetaxel showed an objective response rate of 12.8%, a median duration of response of 5.6 months and median overall survival of 12.3 months. These are reference figures reported in the annual report, not a direct comparison with the new registration-cohort results the company planned to present.
The clinical development comes alongside growth in Iovance's commercial business. In the second quarter of 2026, product revenue was about $99 million, up 66% from about $60 million in the second quarter of 2025, while U.S. Amtagvi revenue was about $91 million. In September, the company raised its 2026 revenue guidance range to $410–420 million. It said the midpoint of the new range is $55 million, or about 15%, above the previous range of $350–370 million. The financial update places the trial results within a period in which the company is seeking to expand product sales and demonstrate the potential of its therapeutic platform.
The company said U.S. demand for Amtagvi and Proleukin drove the revenue guidance increase, and noted that its network of authorized treatment centers reached about 100 in September. It added that it is targeting at least 110 centers by the end of 2026. These figures link current commercial capacity with plans to broaden treatment access as the company presents lung cancer trial data. Iovance is scheduled to report third-quarter results and corporate updates in a webcast on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. Eastern Time.
