TechnipFMC Posts Third-Quarter Diluted EPS of $1.05
Key Facts
TechnipFMC plc, listed under the ticker FTI, reported third-quarter diluted earnings of $1.05 per share for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, compared with $0.90 in the previous quarter and $0.75 a year earlier. The result exceeded analysts’ average estimate of $0.88 per share, according to MarketBeat. The results are for TechnipFMC, not the separate company FMC Corporation, listed under the ticker FMC. The results showed year-over-year growth in revenue and net income, alongside declines in new orders and backlog. The company, meanwhile, raised its Subsea segment revenue and free cash flow guidance for fiscal 2026.
Revenue was $2,895.8 million, up 4.8% from the second quarter and 9.4% from the corresponding period in 2025. Net income rose to $418.4 million, compared with $362.7 million in the previous quarter and $309.7 million a year earlier, marking quarterly growth of 15.4% and annual growth of 35.1%. Net income margin was 14.4%. Adjusted EBITDA was $627.8 million, up 21.0% year over year, with a margin of 21.7%. The expansion in revenue and profitability reflects an improvement in the company’s results compared with both reference periods, although it did not reverse the decline in order indicators.
Subsea was the main driver of annual growth, with revenue of $2,600 million, up 12.1% from the third quarter of 2025, while operating profit rose 30.2% to $522.6 million. The company said the revenue improvement from the previous quarter was linked to increased project and service activity. Projects it cited included iEPCI work in Indonesia and Brazil, while service growth partly offset lower project activity in Norway. The chief executive said the results reflected “strong operational performance.” The company also announced delivery of the first Subsea 2.0 production tree for Chevron’s Gorgon Stage 3 project and delivery of its 200th tree to ExxonMobil in Guyana.
New orders did not keep pace with revenue growth: incoming orders were $2,319.5 million in the third quarter, down 12.4% from the same period last year. Backlog fell to $16,065.8 million as of September 30, 4.4% below its level a year earlier. The figures put higher profitability alongside an annual contraction in incoming orders and the volume of work on hand. The chief executive said the company expects Subsea orders of at least $14.5 billion over the next five quarters, including its 2027 outlook. The Subsea opportunity list rose to $32 billion for the ninth consecutive quarter, based on the midpoints of project values.
Surface Technologies improved sequentially, with segment revenue rising 7.1% to $295.8 million. The company attributed the increase mainly to higher activity in the Middle East, along with increased completion activity in North America. But revenue remained 9.8% below its level in the third quarter of 2025, highlighting differing segment trends on a quarterly and annual basis. On contracts, the company said it had secured contracts to supply flexible pipe to Azule Energy in Angola and Petrobras in Brazil, as well as an integrated contract from PETRONAS for the Limbayong project in Malaysia. TechnipFMC classified each of these contracts in the $75 million to $250 million range.
On liquidity, cash flow from operating activities was $530.7 million for the quarter, and capital expenditures were $61 million, resulting in free cash flow of $469.7 million. The company repurchased 4.4 million shares for $320 million. Including a $19.5 million dividend payment, total shareholder distributions were $339.5 million during the quarter. In October, the company announced an agreement making it a preferred strategic supplier of 20K systems for bp’s Paleogene program in the Gulf of America. It also entered into a cooperation agreement with PETRONAS to partner on the development of deepwater projects.
TechnipFMC raised its 2026 Subsea revenue guidance range to $9.6–$9.8 billion, from a previous range of $9.2–$9.6 billion. It also raised its free cash flow forecast to $1.45–$1.55 billion, compared with previous guidance of $1.3–$1.45 billion. For 2027, the company issued initial guidance for Subsea revenue of between $10.0 and $10.4 billion and an adjusted EBITDA margin of between 22.5% and 24.0%. The stock closed at $71.40 on October 29, the day results were announced; it was down 0.360% over three months and up 70.850% over 12 months, according to Investing.com. The company scheduled its results conference call for October 29, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. London time, or 8:30 a.m. New York time.
