CRH Revenue Rises 3% to $11.4 Billion in Third Quarter as Net Income Falls

Key Facts

1Third-quarter revenue rose 3% to $11.4 billion, from $11.1 billion a year earlier.
2Adjusted EBITDA was $2.7 billion, with a margin of 23.5%.
3CRH expects net income of between $3.1 billion and $3.3 billion in 2026.

The company attributed revenue growth to pricing, underlying demand and contributions from acquisitions. But impairment losses totaled $178 million, compared with $40 million a year earlier, and were linked to the Philippines unit of its International Solutions segment. Diluted earnings per share fell 16% to $1.86. Excluding the impairment impact, earnings per share were $2.09, down 8% from the third quarter of 2025.

On an adjusted earnings-per-share basis, the result topped analysts’ estimate of $2.03, according to Investing.com, while revenue fell short of their estimate of $11.56 billion. The two measures put the quarter in mixed territory: adjusted earnings per share beat expectations, but revenue did not reach consensus. Adjusted EBITDA was $2.7 billion, unchanged from the third quarter of 2025. However, the margin narrowed to 23.5% from 24.3% a year earlier. Chief Executive Jim Mintern said the team faced "a challenging and volatile cost inflation backdrop," while describing the quarter’s performance as resilient.

Performance varied across the company’s units in the Americas. Building Solutions revenue fell 3% to $1.752 billion, and its adjusted EBITDA declined 18% to $353 million. By contrast, Materials Solutions revenue increased 6% to $5.985 billion. The figures show different paths for the two businesses during the quarter, with Building Solutions revenue and adjusted earnings declining while Materials Solutions recorded revenue growth. The reported figures did not provide a detailed comparison of profit margin or earnings for Materials Solutions.

For the nine months ended September 30, 2026, revenue was $29.5 billion, up 5% year over year. Over the same period, net income fell 9% to $2.5 billion. Adjusted EBITDA rose 4% to $5.9 billion. The nine-month results combine revenue and adjusted operating earnings growth on one hand with a decline in net income on the other. This mirrors the divergence in the third-quarter results, where adjusted operating earnings held steady while net income fell.

CRH completed its acquisition of Arcosa on October 23 in a deal with a total value of about $8.5 billion. The company said acquisition contributions supported third-quarter revenue, alongside pricing and underlying demand. It also announced its "Velocity" operational transformation program, which it expects to deliver annualized benefits of about $400 million by the end of 2028. The company estimates total one-off costs for the program at about $400 million. The program therefore combines targeted operational benefits with expected implementation costs over its duration.

For fiscal 2026, the company expects net income of between $3.1 billion and $3.3 billion, and adjusted EBITDA of between $7.8 billion and $8.0 billion. It also announced a share buyback program of up to $6 billion, with authorization running through the end of 2030. The company approved a quarterly cash dividend of $0.39 per share, up 5% from the prior year. The dividend is scheduled to be paid on December 9, 2026, to shareholders of record at the close of trading on November 13, 2026. These steps follow a quarter in which revenue rose while net income and diluted earnings per share declined.
