5The company cut the top end of its 2026 revenue guidance to $50.0 million from $52.0 million.

ClearPoint Neuro reported on October 28 that revenue reached $12.1 million in the third quarter ended September 30, up 36% from $8.9 million a year earlier, while actual revenue of $12.08 million fell short of analysts’ consensus of $12.27 million. By contrast, the loss per share was $0.24, $0.08 better than the expected loss of $0.32. CEO Joe Burnett said revenue growth outpaced the increase in operating expenses, with the former rising 36% versus 23% for the latter. Burnett attributed this to completing the integration of IRRAflow products and improved operating leverage. But sales growth did not prevent the net loss from widening and gross margin from declining during the period.

The neurosurgery navigation and therapy segment was the largest growth driver among the detailed segments, with revenue rising 59% to $5.4 million from $3.4 million in the third quarter of 2025. The company attributed the increase mainly to IRRAflow sales, following its acquisition in the IRRAS deal in the fourth quarter of 2025. These sales helped lift segment revenue, while management linked completion of the product integration to improved operating leverage. Capital equipment and software revenue rose 68% to $1.7 million from $1.0 million. The company said this was mainly due to increased installations of navigation systems and software, IRRAflow control units, and Prism laser devices.

Revenue in the biologics and drug delivery segment rose 11% to $4.9 million, compared with $4.4 million a year earlier. ClearPoint said the improvement was mainly due to higher service revenue from ClearPoint Advanced Laboratories. In its second-quarter results, the company had said the laboratory facility came under its ownership as of July and that new service revenue was expected to return the segment to growth in the third quarter. In the second quarter, company revenue was $10.9 million, up 18% year over year, while revenue in this segment fell 15% because of lower product shipments to biopharmaceutical customers. The company also said in August that it had signed its first statement of work for a preclinical study requiring GLP services at the facility, with execution expected in the first half of 2027.

Gross margin fell to 58% in the third quarter, from 63% in the same period of 2025. The company attributed the pressure mainly to overhead expenses at the new ClearPoint Advanced Laboratories facility and additional amortization of acquired intangible assets. This was partly offset by lower costs of other revenue, according to the earnings release. Operating expenses rose 23% to $13.4 million from $10.9 million. The company attributed the increase mainly to the IRRAS acquisition in November 2025, along with expansion of its clinical and sales teams and higher occupancy and travel costs. The net loss widened to $7.460 million from $5.891 million, while loss per share was $0.24 compared with $0.21 a year earlier.

Cash and cash equivalents totaled $46.2 million on September 30, compared with $45.9 million on December 31, 2025. The company said net proceeds from its at-the-market equity offering program totaled $22.0 million, partly offset by $20.1 million used in operating activities during the nine months ended in September. ClearPoint lowered its 2026 revenue estimate to a range of $48.0 million to $50.0 million, from a previous range of $48.0 million to $52.0 million announced in August. In partnership developments, the company said one of its partners had submitted its first formal biologics license application for a Huntington’s disease treatment. ClearPoint is also an industry partner in a five-year, $2.98 million research project funded by a competitive grant from the National Cancer Institute and led by Dartmouth Health, studying MRI-guided laser therapy for spinal metastases.

Looking ahead to research developments, the company expects 10 to 15 clinical trials using its technology to be in the patient-enrollment stage during the 18 months following its August announcement, alongside about 10 data readouts from its partners’ trials. In the second quarter, it announced a 10-year partnership with the SONOCARE Laboratory at South Korea’s Sungkyunkwan University to develop drug delivery using focused ultrasound. The company held a third-quarter earnings review conference call on October 28 at 4:30 p.m. Eastern Time, with a replay available through November 27. CLPT shares closed at $10.56 on October 28, compared with $9.69 in the previous session, according to EL7 daily data. These prices reflect the regular-session close on each day.
