Aave launched its V4 market on the Base network on October 7, 2026, adding a hub for listing USDC and tokenized U.S. stocks, according to the protocol’s changelog. Initial price feeds for the stocks run through Chainlink five days a week, from Sunday evening to Friday evening Eastern Time, according to a risk review published on Aave’s governance forum. The feeds retain the last published value over weekends and market holidays rather than updating prices around the clock. The risk review described 24/7 feeds for the same tokens on Base as expected later, not as a service already launched. This means tokenized stock listings have begun, while continuous price coverage and weekend liquidations remain subject to future steps.

The market’s list of tokenized stocks includes Apple, Amazon, Alphabet, Meta, Microsoft, Nvidia and Tesla, alongside USDC, according to Aave documentation. The stocks serve as collateral for loans at launch, but the stocks themselves cannot be borrowed, according to the LlamaRisk review published on the governance forum. Each token’s price is calculated through a Chainlink feed that multiplies the underlying stock price by the issuer’s token multiplier, then publishes the result as a total-return price. The multiplier starts at 1.0 and changes only when corporate actions occur. This mechanism ties the collateral value to the underlying stock while accounting for token features set by the issuer.

Weekly price updates stop at 20:00 on Friday Eastern Time and resume at 20:00 on Sunday, and also pause on U.S. market holidays, according to the risk review. During closures, the last published price remains in place, so the feed does not reflect new movements in the stock’s value during those hours. During trading sessions, the feed uses a deviation threshold of 0.5%, alongside a 24-hour heartbeat. A new price is published when the off-chain price moves 0.5% from the last published price, according to the settings cited in the review. These controls determine when the collateral’s displayed price changes during market hours.

During a market closure, the published collateral price does not change, and the position’s health factor may decline solely because of accrued interest, according to the LlamaRisk review. The Aave market itself does not pause during the holiday, and liquidation remains possible at any time, according to the review. But the halt in stock-price updates means weekend liquidation conditions have not yet been linked to continuous price feeds. The review said that activating 24/7 feeds for the same tokens on Base could allow market parameters to be reconsidered, enabling weekend liquidation. It tied the possibility of holiday liquidation to the launch of future feeds and a review of risk parameters.

The stock feeds used in the market are part of a broader initiative that began on January 20, 2026, when Chainlink announced data streams for U.S. stocks operating 24 hours a day, five days a week, covering stocks and exchange-traded funds. The company said at the time that its streams were available on more than 40 blockchain networks, with uses including onchain stock markets, perpetual contracts and prediction markets. It also said its data standard had enabled transactions worth more than $27 trillion, delivered more than 19 billion verified onchain messages and secured about 70% of oracle-related decentralized finance. On October 12, 2026, Chainlink said overnight trading sessions for tokenized stock prices were being smoothed using an exponential moving average. The next step cited in the Aave review remains making 24/7 feeds available for the same tokens on Base, with any subsequent changes to liquidation parameters subject to review.
