Key Facts

1BNB Chain burned 1,646,196.44 BNB in the 37th cycle.
2BNB Chain estimated the burned amount was worth about $1,197,344,519.40 at the time of the transaction.
3The reported remaining supply was 131,512,085 BNB on October 19, 2026, at 10:05 UTC.
4Auto-Burn aims to reduce the total supply to 100,000,000 BNB.

The BNB Foundation announced completion of BNB Chain’s 37th quarterly BNB burn on October 19, 2026, with the network burning 1,646,196.44 BNB. BNB Chain estimated the amount was worth $1,197,344,519.40 at the time of the transaction. The announcement showed the remaining supply at 131,512,085 BNB when the statement was written at 10:05 UTC. The transaction was carried out on the BSC network, and the amount was sent to the black hole burn address. The dollar figure is an estimate of the tokens’ value at the time of the burn, while the announcement listed the burned amount and remaining supply separately.

Compared with the 36th cycle, announced on July 15, 2026, the amount burned increased from 1,615,827.795 BNB to 1,646,196.44 BNB. The estimated value in the previous cycle was about $931,702,464, compared with $1,197,344,519.40 in the latest cycle. The reported remaining supply also fell from 133,166,127.91 BNB to 131,512,085 BNB. The comparison reflects differences in the amount burned and its estimated value at the time of each transaction, along with a change in the reported total supply. BNB Chain presents these figures as data for the two cycles, without linking the announcement to price movements in the token.

The Auto-Burn mechanism calculates the quarterly burn amount based on the price of BNB and the number of blocks produced by BSC during the quarter, according to BNB Chain’s explanation. The company says the mechanism aims to gradually reduce the total supply to 100,000,000 BNB. Binance also explained when launching the mechanism that the calculation is based on the price and average price of BNB and the number of blocks produced during the quarter, using on-chain data. Binance said Auto-Burn is independent of revenue generated from the use of BNB on its centralized platform. Under the mechanism’s rules as described by Binance, automatic burns stop when the circulating supply falls below 100 million BNB.

BNB Chain said the current and future burns are carried out directly on BSC because of BNB Chain Fusion, with the corresponding amount sent to the “black hole burn” address. This quarterly burn differs from another mechanism introduced through the BEP-95 proposal, which burns part of the gas fees collected in each block on BSC. Validator governance determines the share of fees burned, according to BNB Chain. Thus, the fee burn is tied to the gas fees collected on the network, while Auto-Burn sets a periodic amount based on the price of BNB and the number of blocks. The cycle announcement provided no evidence of network activity growth or a price impact from the burn.

BNB Chain said the parameters in the Auto-Burn formula were adjusted to account for the increased pace of block production on BSC after the Lorentz and Maxwell upgrades. BNB supports transactions on BNB Smart Chain, opBNB and BNB Greenfield, and also serves as an on-chain governance token, according to the company’s description. This use places the burn among the network ecosystem’s supply and fee management mechanisms, alongside BNB’s role in paying transaction costs and participating in governance. The burn announcement did not specify a date for the next cycle, but said future burns will be carried out directly on BSC. Auto-Burn’s stated goal remains to reduce the total supply to 100,000,000 BNB.
