Trican Well Service posted a profit of C$48.0 million and basic and diluted earnings of C$0.23 per share for the three months ended Sept. 30, 2026, according to a company statement published Oct. 27. On an adjusted earnings-per-share basis, the result exceeded analysts’ estimate of C$0.2075, according to Investing.com. But revenue fell short of expectations, at C$338.3 million compared with consensus of C$355.9 million. The results presented a mixed picture for the quarter: earnings above expectations alongside revenue below consensus. In post-announcement trading, the stock rose 2.6% to C$7.10 from C$6.92, according to Investing.com, without the report attributing the move to the earnings beat.

Revenue grew to C$338.3 million in the third quarter, from C$300.6 million in the same period of 2025, the company said. Trican attributed the improvement to higher activity levels and better equipment utilization, as well as a full-quarter contribution from Iron Horse. The company said commodity prices remained supportive of customer activity, particularly among producers focused on oil and liquids. Higher activity, better utilization and operating leverage helped improve financial results, according to its statement. At the same time, pricing pressure and inflationary costs persisted during the quarter, tempering the positive picture reflected in revenue growth.

The company’s cash-generating activity produced free cash flow of C$66.0 million in the third quarter, and Trican returned a total of C$53.0 million to shareholders, according to its statement. The amount included C$11.2 million in quarterly distributions and C$41.8 million in share buybacks under the company’s program. These figures show that returning funds to shareholders took place alongside operating spending during the period. On Oct. 27, the board approved a new quarterly distribution of C$0.055 per share. It is scheduled to be paid on Dec. 31 to shareholders of record at the close of business on Dec. 15, 2026.

Trican had approved a 2026 capital budget of C$122 million, including about C$40 million to develop a fleet of hydraulic fracturing equipment powered entirely by natural gas, according to its budget announcement. On demand, the company said expanding liquefied natural gas export capacity, improved access for Canadian oil to markets and growing demand for condensate provide a supportive backdrop for drilling and completions in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin. These factors put activity expectations in a context that extends beyond the results of the past quarter. But the chief executive expected activity to slow in December and said fourth-quarter results would be slightly below the third quarter. He added that the first quarter of 2027 was nearly fully booked, signaling continued demand for the company’s services as the next year begins.
