Natural Health Trends reported sales of $7.6 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, unchanged from the second quarter but 20% below the $9.5 million recorded in the year-earlier period. In its earnings release, the company said its operating loss was $277,000, compared with $643,000 in the second quarter and $495,000 in the third quarter of 2025. Net loss was $232,000, or $0.03 per diluted share, versus $431,000 and $0.04 per share a year earlier. The results show quarterly revenue stability alongside year-over-year improvement in operating and net loss measures. Company officials discussed the results on an earnings call after the announcement.

Revenue weakness extended through the first nine months of the year, with sales of $24.4 million, down 19% from $30 million in the same period of 2025. Cumulative net loss was $837,000, compared with $294,000 a year earlier, a trend that differs from the decline in net loss in the third quarter alone. Second-quarter revenue had fallen 23% year over year to $7.6 million, from $9.8 million in the second quarter of 2025. Quarterly revenue therefore held steady between the second and third quarters but did not return to the level of the year-earlier period. The nine-month results place the quarterly improvement in the operating loss within a broader period of lower sales and a wider net loss.

Chief Executive Chris Sharng said consumer pessimism in Natural Health Trends' largest market, regulatory uncertainty and previously reported member conduct issues continued to weigh on purchases and member activity. He said incentives and lower-priced packs accounted for most of the annual sales decline, while also helping increase active membership from the previous quarter and stabilize revenue between the two quarters. In the second-quarter results, Sharng said consumer caution around spending and investment in China, along with regulatory uncertainty, led some members to suspend activity during the quarter. The company thus links weak demand in its largest market with measures aimed at supporting activity through pricing and incentives. Sharng said, "Consumer pessimism in our largest market, regulatory uncertainty and previously reported member conduct issues continued to weigh on purchases and member activity."

The number of active members was 27,040 on September 30, 2026, up from 26,000 on June 30 but below 28,030 on September 30, 2025. The company defines an active member as someone who ordered at least one product during the previous twelve months, so the measure reflects the customer base that placed an order over an extended period, not just buyers in the quarter. The company had recorded 26,650 active members on December 31, 2025. The comparison shows an increase since the end of June, while the figure remained below its year-earlier level. According to Sharng, incentives and lower-priced packs supported the sequential increase in membership, despite contributing to most of the annual sales decline.

The company used $3.3 million in cash for operating activities during the first nine months of 2026, compared with $5 million in the corresponding period of 2025. Cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities totaled $17.6 million on September 30, down from $28.9 million on December 31, 2025. The company attributed the decline mainly to share repurchases and dividends paid during the nine months, as well as cash used in operations. It repurchased 28,022 shares in the third quarter for $27,000, then bought an additional 57,269 shares for $56,000 in October. The board authorized additional repurchases under the existing program, with $15.8 million remaining available, subject to market conditions and related considerations.

On products, the company said it had launched an AI-powered marketing and communications app and was continuing to develop a traditional Chinese medicine product for the China market. The company is targeting a launch of the China product in the coming months, without specifying a date in the release. In trading, NHTC shares closed at $0.8593 on October 27, 2026. The closing price was from the day before this report's date. The earnings release did not provide a price target or financial forecasts for future periods.
