Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing, HKEX, said on October 28, 2026, that it had launched platform and nominee services within its Integrated Fund Platform, expanding the range of services available across broader stages of the fund distribution cycle. The company said the new phase advances Hong Kong’s fund distribution ecosystem by connecting market participants through standardized processes and information exchange. The platform now has more than 60 distributors, fund houses and transfer agents, compared with the initial group of 33 participants when the order-routing service launched. The growth reflects an expanding base of firms involved in the infrastructure connecting fund distribution and management participants. The Fund Repository was launched in December 2024, followed by the order-routing service in July 2025; Wednesday’s announcement therefore concerns the new services, not the launch of the original platform.

The new services expand the platform’s capabilities across primary distribution and nominee and management services, according to an HKEX statement. The platform thus connects distributors, fund managers, transfer agents and other participants through standardized information-sharing processes. This scope covers a range of operations that had involved multiple parties in the fund market. HKEX says the services aim to address market fragmentation and improve efficiency in participant onboarding, order processing, settlement, payments, reconciliation and reporting. The design brings administrative and operational processes associated with distribution into a single workflow, from participant onboarding through order processing and settlement. The announcement marks a move beyond the repository and order routing to a set of services covering additional tasks in the fund distribution cycle.

HKEX Group’s chief information officer said concentrating fund distribution processes on the platform aims to improve operational efficiency, transparency and scalability while cutting costs. Standardized processes mean distributors, fund managers and transfer agents can operate through shared infrastructure covering participant onboarding, orders, settlement, payments, reconciliation and reporting, according to the company’s description of the services. HKEX links these functions to a broader goal of improving the efficiency of the fund ecosystem. The official said the platform “aims to enhance operational efficiency, transparency and scalability across the fund ecosystem, while reducing costs.” The statement did not provide a numerical estimate of expected savings or a timeline for achieving them. It also did not specify the expected scale of operational improvements from introducing the new services.

The move comes as Hong Kong’s asset and wealth management sector expands. Assets under management in the city reached a record HK$42.2 trillion in 2025, up 20% year on year, according to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government. Net fund inflows rose to HK$2.1 trillion in the same year, an increase of 193% year on year. The figures put the new distribution services in the context of a market that saw strong growth in assets and flows during 2025. HKEX said the platform was developed in collaboration with the regional government, the Securities and Futures Commission and industry participants. The exchange had earlier announced on September 20, 2024, the formation of a working group bringing together industry participants to help design the platform and develop Hong Kong’s fund distribution ecosystem.

The Hong Kong government forecast that the city’s cross-border assets under management would grow by an average of 9% a year between 2025 and 2030, with Hong Kong continuing to rank first globally. The forecast places the expansion of fund distribution infrastructure within the projected growth of cross-border wealth management in the coming years. The government expects the city to retain that position during the forecast period, while HKEX’s services aim to standardize operational processes in the sector. These cover onboarding, order processing, settlement, payments, reconciliation and reporting, functions the company said the new services would make more efficient. The announcement did not set a later date for adding other services or targets for participant growth. HKEX’s October 28 announcement remains an expansion of the platform with primary distribution, nominee and management services, after the participant base grew to more than 60 firms.
