Franklin Electric reported a 9% increase in consolidated sales to $633.6 million in the third quarter of 2026, compared with $581.7 million in the same period a year earlier. Adjusted diluted EPS was $1.50, beating analysts’ estimate of $1.42 by $0.08, according to Investing.com. The consensus revenue estimate was $613.69 million, below the company’s actual sales. GAAP diluted EPS was $1.35, compared with $0.37 a year earlier. The comparison shows that adjusted EPS differs from the figure reported under GAAP, so the two readings are not the same measure.

Net income attributable to Franklin Electric rose to $60.649 million in the third quarter, from $16.738 million in the same period of 2025. Operating income increased more slowly, to $86.5 million from $85.1 million. At the same time, the operating margin fell to 13.7% from 14.6% a year earlier. The divergence between growth in net income and operating income and the narrower margin highlights pressure on operating profitability relative to sales. Management said higher materials and freight costs continued to weigh on margins.

Sales growth extended across all three segments, though at different rates. Water Systems generated sales of $352.5 million, up 5% year over year. Power Systems posted $91.7 million, up 15%, while Distribution sales reached $226.1 million, also up 15%. The company said higher volumes, contributions from recent acquisitions and realized pricing supported Distribution’s growth. Overall revenue growth benefited from “favorable pricing, contributions from recent acquisitions and good customer activity,” Chief Executive Joe Ruzynski said.

Growth in Power Systems did not translate into higher operating income, which was $23.7 million, compared with $25.4 million in the third quarter of 2025. The company said acquisition contributions, selling prices and sales volume supported the segment’s sales, which increased 15%. On September 8, Franklin Electric announced its acquisition of Cat Pumps to expand its commercial and industrial flow-control platform. Ruzynski cited an “early contribution” from Cat Pumps among the factors supporting performance. Management also said order trends were encouraging and customer engagement was strong, while materials and freight costs remained elevated.

Franklin Electric raised its fiscal 2026 sales guidance to a range of $2.23 billion to $2.30 billion. It also raised its full-year adjusted diluted EPS range to $4.62 to $4.82. The guidance increase follows third-quarter sales growth and adjusted EPS above analysts’ estimates, while margins remain under pressure from materials and freight costs, according to management. In the second quarter, the company reported sales of $622.9 million, up 6% from the same period, and GAAP diluted EPS of $1.46, up 11% year over year. Third-quarter sales therefore rose from the second-quarter level, with the annual comparisons based on different periods.

In separate industrial news, the U.S. Census Bureau reported on October 27 that new orders for U.S.-manufactured durable goods rose by $6.3 billion, or 1.8%, to $345.4 billion in September. The data provide a dated indicator of U.S. industrial demand but do not establish a causal link to Franklin Electric’s results. The Census Bureau said the full September data report will be released on November 3, 2026. The company’s stock closed at $98.07 on October 27, according to EL7 data; that closing price predates the results announcement published on October 28.
