City Union Bank’s net profit rose 26.6% year on year to ₹416 crore in the second quarter of fiscal 2027, compared with ₹329 crore in the year-earlier period, according to NDTV Profit. The bank’s board approved the unaudited standalone results for the quarter and half year ended September 30, 2026, at its meeting on October 28. Official filings showed total income of ₹2,442.46 crore, compared with ₹1,912.26 crore a year earlier. The figures put profit growth in the context of income expansion during the quarter. The report said the reported profit was rounded to the nearest crore.

Net interest income was one of the main drivers of the results, rising 31% to ₹873 crore from ₹667 crore in the year-earlier quarter, according to NDTV Profit. Operating profit before provisions and contingencies was ₹650.91 crore, compared with ₹470.59 crore a year earlier, according to official filings. This measure captures operating performance before provisions and contingencies, while net profit is calculated after those items. The results therefore show growth in interest income and operating profit alongside higher provisions. Provisions stood at ₹120 crore for the quarter, compared with ₹57 crore in the second quarter of fiscal 2026, according to the report.

Asset quality ratios improved from the end of the previous quarter. The gross non-performing asset ratio fell to 1.44% on September 30 from 1.73% on June 30, while the net non-performing asset ratio declined to 0.48% from 0.61%, according to the bank’s disclosure. Both ratios therefore declined during the quarter, with gross and net bad assets remaining distinct measures. In fiscal 2026, the bank had reported that its gross non-performing asset ratio fell to 1.91% from 3.09% in the previous year. The net non-performing asset ratio in that announcement also declined to 0.68% from 1.25%. These annual figures provide context for the improvement the bank recorded at the end of September.

First-quarter results point to continued year-on-year profit growth in the first half of the fiscal year. In results published on July 28, 2026, net profit rose 25.1% to ₹383 crore, while net interest income was ₹820 crore, according to NDTV Profit. In a broader annual comparison, the bank said total loans rose 26% to ₹66,699 crore in fiscal 2026 from ₹53,066 crore in fiscal 2025. The earlier growth in lending provides context for the expansion of the bank’s business, while the current-quarter results reflect higher income and improved bad-asset ratios alongside increased provisions. The disclosure cited here did not specify total loans at the end of September.

The results announcement was reflected in the stock’s trading during the October 28 session. NDTV Profit reported that the stock rose 9.16% to an intraday high of ₹213.30 after the results were announced. By 12:44 p.m., the stock was up 5% at ₹223.82 on the NSE, according to the same report. The ₹213.30 level was the session high, while ₹223.82 was the trading price at the stated time. The bank scheduled its second-quarter fiscal 2027 results call, organized by Ambit Capital, for Wednesday, October 28, 2026.
