Jupiter announced a partnership with BitGo Bank & Trust on October 28, 2026, to offer the Jupiter x BitGo validator to BitGo’s institutional clients, according to a press release cited by The Defiant. The service enables these clients to stake SOL directly from their existing custody accounts through the joint validator. The companies said the arrangement allows participation in native staking on the Solana network and the earning of rewards while assets remain in BitGo’s custody. The model places staking within the existing custody relationship rather than requiring tokens to be transferred to another provider. BitGo said the partnership aims to simplify access to staking and reduce the operational complexity of managing assets with multiple providers. Abel Seow, BitGo’s managing director and head of Asia-Pacific sales, said institutional staking “needs to be integrated into clients’ existing custody and approval workflows.”

The joint validator gives BitGo’s institutional clients a new channel for accessing SOL staking while keeping assets in their custody accounts. Jupiter Chief Operating Officer Kash Dhanda said operating a validator is the company’s way of investing in the foundation on which its products are built, adding that the partnership “brings institutional SOL to that foundation.” SOL holders delegate tokens to validators that help secure the network and, in return, receive protocol-issued rewards, according to BitGo’s explanation. The company cautions, however, that rewards vary with network conditions, validator performance and other factors, and that no specific return is guaranteed. Staking returns are also affected by the network’s inflation rate and the total amount of SOL staked, as well as validator uptime and commission, according to Solana’s documentation.

BitGo says its regulated custody platform provides access to insurance coverage of up to $250 million, as well as protections that segregate client assets from the company’s bankruptcy estate. These benefits describe the custody framework the company offers when providing staking services to institutions, but they do not eliminate risks associated with staking itself. Unstaking on Solana is not immediate: activation and deactivation are completed at epoch boundaries, and delegation can take several epochs depending on changes in network-wide staking. Risks cited by the source include delays in unstaking, validator outages, protocol changes and the possibility of slashing penalties, in addition to a decline in SOL’s value. Solana documentation says slashing is not currently implemented in the protocol, describing it as a possibility in the future; changes in the token’s price remain separate from staking rewards.

The move comes as BitGo expands digital-asset services that give institutions access to reward-generating activities through custody arrangements. On October 7, 2026, EL7 reported that BitGo clients in the United States could stake ETH through Lido, while BitGo had previously announced an integration with Marinade Native in 2025 that allowed clients to stake SOL from BitGo wallets while the tokens remained there. In Asia-Pacific, BitGo and HashKey announced a partnership on October 6, 2026, whose first phase includes ETH and SOL staking for eligible institutional clients. BitGo’s second-quarter 2026 results show that standardized staked assets totaled $11.9 billion, up 36.1% year over year and 3.0% quarter over quarter. Staking revenue was $64.7 million for the quarter, up 30.9% from the previous quarter but down 28.8% from the same period a year earlier.

In the market, BitGo shares, trading under the ticker BTGO, closed at $5.65 on October 27, 2026, compared with a $5.40 close in the previous session; the data provided do not include a live price or daily range. SOL closed at $101.35 on October 27 and then at $101.43 on October 28. These prices come in the context of the service announcement and do not alone determine the partnership’s effect on either asset’s price movement. BitGo is scheduled to report third-quarter 2026 financial results after the market closes on November 9, 2026, followed by a management call at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time. The forthcoming results may provide an update on the company’s business, including staking activity, following publication of its second-quarter figures.
