ASM International reported adjusted net profit of €315.4 million in the third quarter of 2026, compared with €206.2 million in the same period a year earlier, according to results published by the company on October 27. Gross margin was 52.0%, versus 51.9% in the comparison cited in the results. Adjusted operating margin reached 33.4%, compared with 33.0% in the previous quarter and 30.9% a year earlier. The figures reflect improved profitability alongside higher sales of semiconductor manufacturing equipment. The company said quarterly revenue rose 44% year on year excluding the effect of foreign exchange movements.

ASM attributed revenue growth to accelerating sales of advanced logic and foundry equipment, pointing to an initially strong contribution from investments related to 1.4-nanometer technology. The company said memory sales recorded strong growth, while resilient orders for mature logic and foundry technologies supported performance during the quarter. Its chief executive added that demand for AI infrastructure remained strong, alongside limited production capacity at customers. These factors place the company in the supply chain benefiting from spending on computing capacity and advanced chips. Describing its growth mix, ASM said revenue rose "driven by accelerating sales of advanced logic and foundry, including an initially strong contribution from 1.4-nanometer investments, and strong growth in memory sales."

The company expects revenue to rise by about 35% in 2026 at constant exchange rates, with equipment revenue growing by more than 40%. For 2027, it identified advanced logic and foundry as the strongest expected growth drivers. ASM expects further increases in sales related to 2-nanometer technology and continued strong momentum in 1.4-nanometer technology, alongside strong growth in its memory business. These forecasts give investors the company’s outlook for the next two years following its third-quarter performance. ASM said advanced logic and foundry "are expected to be the strongest growth drivers in 2027."

In a parallel move, ASM’s board approved a new share buyback program worth up to €300 million, citing the company’s strong cash position and financial performance. The company’s U.S.-listed shares, trading under the ticker ASMIY, closed at $846.20 on October 27, according to EL7 data. The third-quarter results call and webcast were scheduled for October 28 at 3:00 p.m. Central European Time. The call will give the company an opportunity to present its results and outlook to investors after publishing the report. It follows the announcement of the buyback program and growth outlook for the next two years.
