SSAB Revenue Rises to SEK 25,632 Million, Operating Profit to SEK 2,157 Million
Key Facts
SSAB reported revenue of SEK 25,632 million in the third quarter of 2026, compared with SEK 22,960 million in the same period of 2025, while operating profit rose to SEK 2,157 million from SEK 1,869 million, according to the company’s report. SSAB said improved steel prices and higher shipments supported its year-on-year operating profit. The comparison shows an improvement in revenue and operating profit from the year-earlier quarter, while earnings per share rose to SEK 1.56 from SEK 1.49. The company also faced a higher bill for planned maintenance, placing the growth in results in the context of rising operating costs. Those costs totaled SEK 810 million for the quarter, compared with SEK 390 million a year earlier.
At the business-unit level, SSAB Europe said shipments increased across most premium product segments, including AHSS automotive steel products. Shipments at SSAB Special Steels also rose, while SSAB Americas benefited from a strong U.S. market for plate steel. The company linked improved performance to a combination of better prices and higher shipments, alongside growth in deliveries in European value-added segments. It said signs of an improving supply-demand balance in Europe emerged during the third quarter, alongside better prices. New European trade measures took effect on 1 July 2026, a development the company places in the context of an improving European market.
On financing, SSAB said Moody’s began coverage of the company during the third quarter, assigning it a Baa2 long-term issuer rating, investment grade, with a stable outlook. The rating adds an external assessment of the company’s credit position, according to its report. On operating results, the rise in planned maintenance costs to SEK 810 million from SEK 390 million in the year-earlier period stands out as a counterweight to improved prices and shipments. The comparison shows the maintenance bill rose alongside the year-on-year gains in revenue and operating profit. The company did not specify a separate numerical impact of these costs on operating profit in the information presented here.
For the fourth quarter, SSAB expects realized prices in its steel divisions to be slightly higher than in the previous quarter and plans to continue completing its scheduled annual maintenance. It also expects shipments to rise at SSAB Europe, remain stable at SSAB Americas and decline slightly at SSAB Special Steels. At the same time, the company expects raw material costs to rise slightly compared with the third quarter, alongside its forecast for a slight improvement in realized prices in its steel divisions. This guidance outlines a coming quarter combining slightly better prices with differing shipment expectations by unit, continued maintenance work and a limited expected increase in raw material costs. SSAB set 28 January 2027 as the date for publishing its 2026 year-end report.
