UTI AMC Posts 132 Crore Rupees in Second-Quarter Fiscal 2027 Profit
Key Facts
UTI Asset Management Company reported consolidated net profit of 132 crore rupees in the second quarter of fiscal 2026-2027, up 17% from the same period a year earlier, according to its published results. By contrast, profit fell 55% from the first quarter of the fiscal year, putting the annual improvement in the context of a weaker quarter-on-quarter performance. Consolidated core income from services was 398 crore rupees, up 2% year on year and 5% quarter on quarter. The results cover the quarter ended September 30, 2026. The figures therefore show mixed performance, with annual growth in profit and core income alongside a quarterly decline in net profit.
Analysts had expected net profit of 1.44 billion rupees, down more than 13% year on year and about 34% from the previous quarter, according to estimates cited by Informist Media. The estimates linked pressure on earnings to a decline in other income associated with losses from the revaluation of equities. Analysts also said growth in assets under management limited the expected decline in profitability. Reported net profit of 132 crore rupees came in above their estimate of 1.44 billion rupees. The comparison highlights differing trends in revenue and profitability: core service income grew year on year, while the impact of other income was central to previous earnings estimates.
At the core business level, consolidated service income was 398 crore rupees for the quarter, up 2% from the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year and 5% from the first quarter. In the first half of fiscal 2026-2027, this income reached 777 crore rupees, up 1% year on year. Consolidated net profit for the first half was 426 crore rupees, marking annual growth of 22%. These figures show first-half profit growth outpacing growth in core service income, with performance varying between the standalone quarter and the longer period. The second quarter was weaker on a quarterly comparison, with net profit down 55% from the previous quarter.
Analysts estimated that average quarterly assets under management would rise about 3% from the previous quarter, despite a quarter-on-quarter decline in equity and liquid assets under management, Informist Media reported. In the results, chief executive Vitri Subramaniam said average quarterly assets of UTI mutual funds rose to 4.02 lakh crore rupees in the second quarter. He added that performance in the quarter and first half reflected "steady progress in strengthening our business and expanding investor participation." Subramaniam linked his remarks on participation to net inflows into equity schemes of 3,415 crore rupees during the first half. He also said the company's share of investors' portfolios improved to 3.82%, presenting it as an indicator of business activity during the period.
Subramaniam said the company was focused on "building sustainable growth" and deepening market participation as part of "Mission 2031." The indicators he cited included average quarterly fund assets of 4.02 lakh crore rupees and net inflows into equity schemes of 3,415 crore rupees in the first half. He also pointed to an improvement in the company's share of investors' portfolios to 3.82%. These figures put asset growth and investor participation at the center of his message about the company's direction. The published results record annual growth in net profit alongside a sharp quarterly decline, while the statement gave no specific subsequent date or new financial forecast.
