T1 Energy shares fall to $2.12 despite AI stock gains after Anthropic filing
Key Facts
T1 Energy shares closed at $2.12 on Oct. 26, 2026, down from $2.29 on Oct. 23, according to EL7 data. The close came on the day Anthropic announced it had filed a Form S-1 registration statement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission ahead of a proposed initial public offering of its Class A shares. But the timing of the two events does not prove that the company’s filing moved T1 shares; available closing data instead trace a downward path for the stock over the preceding sessions. EL7 data showed the close fell from $2.47 on Oct. 20 to $2.38 on Oct. 21, then to $2.31 on Oct. 22 and $2.29 on Oct. 23. That left the Oct. 26 close at the lowest level among these five recorded closes.
By contrast, AI-related stocks received support after the proposed offering documents were published. Reuters said Nvidia shares rose about 3% on Oct. 26, while Microsoft and Amazon each gained about 1%. In morning trading the same day, the S&P 500 rose 0.5%, and U.S. stock-index futures briefly received a boost after the filing, Reuters reported. These moves provide context for market interest in Anthropic’s offering, but they do not establish a direct link between the filing and T1 shares’ trajectory. Reuters said a successful offering by an AI company such as Anthropic could reshape valuations in some industry sectors, including chipmakers and related infrastructure companies, and could prompt investors to shift money away from other major technology companies.
The filing is a preliminary step, not an offering that has been fully priced or made available for sale. Anthropic plans to list its Class A shares on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the symbol ANT, according to the company’s statement. But the company has not set the number of shares to be offered or a price range, and the registration statement has not become effective. Anthropic said it had filed the registration with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, adding that "the securities may not be sold, nor may offers to buy be accepted, before the registration statement becomes effective." The company said in June that it had confidentially submitted a draft registration for the proposed offering, giving it the option to become a public company after completing the SEC review, with the decision tied to market conditions and other factors.
The financial figures in the offering filing put revenue growth alongside substantial losses. Anthropic’s revenue exceeded $16 billion in the first half of 2026, 14 times revenue in the same period a year earlier, the Associated Press reported. But the company was not profitable; it recorded a net loss of $80.7 billion in the first half, compared with a loss of $13 billion in the same period a year earlier. The 2026 loss included a one-time accounting adjustment of $72.4 billion related to financing agreements. Anthropic said in the filing that it had $131.7 billion in cash and cash equivalents available on June 30. These figures come as Reuters said market volatility had narrowed the autumn IPO calendar and rising borrowing costs had heightened investor concerns about the debt-funded AI investment boom.
T1’s connection to the AI boom runs through energy and manufacturing, not AI model development. The company said its acquisition of KORE Power gives it access to the energy storage and AI data-center infrastructure market by expanding the potential customer base for its solar and storage solutions. It added that KORE’s NRI team had completed about 1,100 battery energy storage projects worldwide. In its second-quarter 2026 results, T1 reported net sales of $250.1 million, production of 935 megawatts at its G1_Dallas facility, and a loss from continuing operations of $36.9 million. It also said it continued to target a comprehensive financing solution that includes a significant debt component to cover the remaining capital expenditures for Phase 1 of G2_Austin.
On Oct. 22, T1 announced it had received a Commerce Department exemption to import up to 1.725 gigawatts of solar cells. The company said the exemption was intended to facilitate continued manufacturing at its G1_Dallas facility while construction of the G2_Austin cell plant continues. T1 expects to produce its first solar cells at the G2 plant in the first quarter of 2027. The next near-term milestone for investors is the announcement of third-quarter results on Nov. 12, 2026, at about 6:00 a.m. Eastern time, with a conference call scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m. Eastern time. At that time, the company will present its latest results while Anthropic’s proposed offering remains subject to registration review and the setting of its terms.
