Ripple and Robinhood Expand Partnership to Include Settlement, Treasury and Institutional Financing
Key Facts
Ripple and Robinhood announced a strategic partnership on October 27, 2026, expanding their cooperation in stablecoins, institutional markets and treasury management. Robinhood will use RLUSD for institutional settlement via the XRP Ledger within the institutional business of Bitstamp by Robinhood. The company will also integrate Ripple Treasury into its management of global treasury operations, including cash, liquidity, cash-flow forecasting, payments, risk management and intercompany clearing. The announcement comes as Robinhood prepares to publish its third-quarter results after the market close the same day. The company scheduled its earnings call for 5 p.m. Eastern Time. HOOD shares closed at $92.84 on October 26, after session closes fell from $101.93 on October 21 to that level.
The agreement goes beyond listing the stablecoin in a trading interface; it includes using RLUSD for institutional settlement, linking treasury operations to Ripple’s services and financing trading through Ripple Prime. Johann Kerbrat, Robinhood’s executive responsible for Crypto and International, said Bitstamp and Robinhood would have access to RLUSD for institutional settlement, Ripple Treasury for operations and Ripple Prime for financing. Ripple Prime provides Bitstamp by Robinhood with lending and margin financing across about 20 digital assets. Ripple said support for perpetual futures trading on Bitstamp through Ripple Prime is planned for later this year. The agreement thus combines the use of the currency for settlement with operational and financing services for institutions.
On availability, Ripple said RLUSD is already available on Robinhood Chain and Bitstamp by Robinhood, and is expected to launch later this year in the Robinhood app. The schedule places current service on two platforms alongside future availability to app users, in addition to the announced expansion of institutional use. Ripple President Monica Long said the partnership extends “from making RLUSD available to retail and institutional markets to helping Robinhood manage its own treasury operations.” The announcement gives no more specific date than “later this year” for the currency’s availability in the app or the launch of perpetual futures trading. It also provided no estimate of the expected financial impact of these services.
The partnership comes in a market where Ripple said the total supply of its stablecoins had exceeded $300 billion at the time of the announcement. The company added that RLUSD’s market capitalization had surpassed $2.4 billion since the currency launched in December 2024. These figures provide context for the size of the market and the currency that will be included in Robinhood’s services, while the agreement expands its use to institutional settlement and treasury management. Ripple said Robinhood serves 28.6 million funded customers worldwide, including institutional clients through Bitstamp. This reach provides context for the size of the customer base in which the company operates, without the announcement specifying how many users are expected to adopt RLUSD.
The awaited third-quarter results follow a second quarter in which Robinhood posted record total revenue of $1.31 billion, up 32% year over year, according to results published on July 29, 2026. In the same period, cryptocurrency revenue was $100 million, down 38% year over year. The company also said net income included $129 million in gains, primarily related to the deconsolidation of Robinhood Ventures Fund I, a point it cited when comparing financial performance. Robinhood is scheduled to publish its third-quarter results and discuss them on October 27 after the market close. The call is set for 5 p.m. Eastern Time, while the latest share close recorded in EL7 data remains $92.84 on October 26.
