Ritual Network Launches RITUAL, Unlocking 1.8 Billion Tokens From an Initial Supply of 10 Billion

Key Facts

1The initial supply was 10,000,000,000 RITUAL tokens, with no defined maximum.
21,800,000,000 tokens were unlocked at the network launch, equal to 18% of the initial supply.
3The community airdrop totaled 50,000,000 tokens, or 0.5% of the supply.
4Core contributors hold 29%, growth and research and development 25%, network participation 14%, and Labs investors 11.3%.
550% of the investor allocation unlocks after one year, followed by monthly unlocks of the remainder through month 24.

Ritual launched its mainnet on October 26, 2026, and unlocked 1.8 billion RITUAL tokens at launch, representing 18% of an initial supply of 10 billion tokens, according to the foundation’s tokenomics document. The network launch coincided with the start of trading on MEXC, which said it would open the RITUAL/USDT pair at 15:50 UTC the same day. The unlocked tokens were divided among 12.5% of the supply for ecosystem growth and research and development allocations, 5% for the foundation treasury, and 0.5% for network participation and future incentives. This means the 18% figure refers to the initial supply, not a fixed maximum token supply, as the document says there is no maximum supply. MEXC also said withdrawals would begin on October 27 at 15:50 UTC.

Of the unlocked tokens, Ritual allocated 50 million tokens to a community airdrop, equal to 0.5% of the initial supply. The foundation said the allocation went to people who completed verifiable work for the network before the token was issued. Recipients included Infernet node operators, Frenrug users and community members who participated consistently, according to the tokenomics document. The allocation falls within the 14% of the initial supply set aside for network participation and future incentives. The 25% allocation for growth and research and development exceeds the portion unlocked at launch: 12.5% of the supply was made available within the 1.8 billion token balance. Core contributors hold 29%, while 11.3% was allocated to Labs investors, according to the foundation.

The vesting rules lock insiders’ tokens for at least one year from the mainnet launch date, according to the foundation; the document does not attribute a liquidity-management objective to the lockup. The 11.3% allocation for Labs investors remains locked during the first year, after which 50% of it unlocks one year after launch. The remainder then unlocks in monthly installments through month 24, according to the published schedule. The document says vesting schedules for core contributors vary by tranche, so their entire allocation is not subject to a single uniform schedule. These dates set a timeline for distributing allocations after launch, alongside the tokens made available from day one.

Ritual describes the token as a means of payment for activities running on the network, as well as a tool for staking and securing it. Its uses include transaction fees, running agents, AI model inference, HTTP requests and scheduled tasks. The foundation said, "Every agent on Ritual pays RITUAL to keep running," pointing to the link between agent use and the token within the network. The network also intends to gradually transfer voting to stakers, according to the tokenomics document. Ritual’s native components allow agents to call AI models, access the internet, schedule execution and manage keys through Solidity contracts, according to foundation materials. The token’s stated functions thus combine payment for network use with staking and participation in governance.

Ritual Chain has about 15 prebuilt native components and a block time of less than 300 milliseconds, according to launch materials published by Benzinga, citing a Chainwire statement. These components enable network functions to run directly within its architecture, while the foundation links them to agents’ access to models and the internet, scheduling and key management. Before the mainnet launch, the public testnet had processed more than 40 million transactions since it began operating in June, according to the same statement. The launch included integrations with Phala Network, Nous Research, LayerZero and Stargate. These figures and integrations provide a picture of the infrastructure launched with the network, while RITUAL’s use within it forms part of the token’s stated design.

The supply schedule extends beyond the tokens allocated at launch: the foundation points to approximate annual token issuance, offset by the burning of transaction fees. This means the supply mechanism combines new issuance with the consumption of some tokens through fees, while the maximum supply remains undefined. The tokenomics document does not provide a final figure for total future supply; it describes an initial supply of 10 billion tokens and says the maximum is undefined. In trading on launch day, Coinbase listed RITUAL at $0.02287 on October 26, 2026, at 6:04 p.m., warning that the price could change quickly. The platform said the token was available to buy through its centralized platform, with payment methods and trading availability varying by user region.
