Ripple and Robinhood Announce Partnership for RLUSD Settlement and Corporate Treasury Management
Key Facts
Ripple and Robinhood announced a strategic partnership on October 27, 2026, linking the brokerage platform with Ripple’s infrastructure for stablecoins, institutional markets and treasury management. Robinhood will use RLUSD on the XRP Ledger to settle institutional transactions, expanding the token’s role beyond trading. The partnership also includes integrating Ripple Treasury into Robinhood’s operations and making financing services available through Ripple Prime. Ripple President Monica Long said the agreement reflects “growing institutional demand for integrated solutions.” The announcement brings multiple uses of the token and institutional platforms together in one partnership, while leaving the expected transaction volume and revenue unspecified.
The settlement arrangements extend beyond RLUSD trading to include using the token to settle Bitstamp’s institutional business through the XRP Ledger. Robinhood will also integrate the Ripple Treasury platform to automate global treasury operations. These include cash and liquidity management, cash flow forecasting, payments and risk management. They also extend to intercompany clearing, connecting the company’s operational uses with treasury tools. Johann Kerbrat, senior vice president and general manager of Robinhood Crypto and International, said “the utility of stablecoins is what drives their progress,” adding that the partnership gives Robinhood and Bitstamp access to RLUSD for institutional settlement, Ripple Treasury for operations and Ripple Prime for financing.
The announcement comes as RLUSD’s market capitalization has topped $2.4 billion since its launch in December 2024, according to Ripple. The company also said total stablecoin supply exceeded $300 billion at the time the partnership was announced. The figures place RLUSD within a broader stablecoin market, but do not specify the token’s share of total supply. Ripple says the token will support institutional settlement, while the partnership links access to it with financing and treasury services. Actual usage volumes at Robinhood and Bitstamp will remain a later measure of how far this expansion moves from service availability to operational activity.
Robinhood provides a broad operational base for the collaboration, with 28.6 million funded customers at the end of August 2026. That was about 120,000 more than at the end of July and about 1.90 million more year over year. The platform’s total assets stood at $384 billion at the end of August, up 8% from July and 26% from a year earlier. These figures describe the platform’s customer base and assets, however, and do not mean that all customers will get RLUSD immediately. The partnership announcement gave no target user count or estimate for trading or settlement volume.
The stablecoin expansion comes amid a period of financial growth for Robinhood, though revenue sources performed unevenly. In the second quarter of 2026, total revenue rose 32% year over year to a record $1.31 billion, while cryptocurrency revenue fell 38% to $100 million. Net income rose 48% to $573 million, and diluted earnings per share increased 48% to $0.62. Platform assets totaled $369 billion at quarter-end, up 32% year over year. The company also recorded net deposits of $21.7 billion during the quarter and $75.7 billion in the twelve months preceding its end.
The partnership’s components are connected to Ripple’s moves in treasury management. On October 26, the company announced new capabilities in Ripple Treasury for managing cash, liquidity and payments around the clock. They include 24/7 Returns, designed to help eligible corporate clients earn returns on operating cash left unused overnight or on weekends and public holidays. Eligible digital assets may include RLUSD, according to the announcement. Ripple cited a 2026 AFP survey, saying 46% of institutions had increased their U.S. cash balances over the previous year. It also said 86% of treasury professionals reported that their institutions would choose instant money market funds if they met their investment policies.
Robinhood is scheduled to report third-quarter results on October 27, 2026, at 5 p.m. Eastern time. The timing falls on the same day the company and Ripple announced their partnership, putting its quarterly results alongside details of the collaboration in focus. Announcement materials said RLUSD is available on Robinhood Chain and Bitstamp, while a launch in the Robinhood app is expected later in 2026. The announcement gave no launch date or quantitative implementation metrics. Robinhood shares closed at $92.84 on October 26, according to EL7 data.
