Larsen & Toubro reported a 32.5% rise in consolidated net profit to 5,202.10 crore rupees in the quarter ended September 2026, from 3,926.09 crore rupees in the year-earlier period. The company recorded a quarterly order inflow of 147,665 crore rupees, a year-on-year increase of 28%, according to PTI, as cited by Deccan Chronicle. The results reflect the second quarter of fiscal 2026-2027, not the second quarter of the calendar year. Consolidated revenue rose 16% to 78,750 crore rupees, with the company attributing the growth to faster progress across its businesses. The record orders and outstanding order book indicate the scale of contracts the company will work to execute in coming periods.

International orders amounted to 92,375 crore rupees, or 63% of total order inflow during the quarter. This mix highlights the importance of overseas markets in the company’s new contract pipeline, alongside its activity in India. The consolidated order book stood at 853,514 crore rupees on September 30, the highest level recorded by the company. Management said this balance, equivalent to about 8.5 lakh crore rupees in the source’s wording, provides revenue visibility over several years. The contract backlog gives the company an extended base of work, while much of its growth depends on its ability to convert orders into execution and revenue.

The quarter’s largest contract wins were spread across offshore and onshore hydrocarbons, CarbonLite Solutions, public spaces and airports, and power transmission and distribution. Chairman S. N. Subrahmanyan said the performance reflected “continued customer confidence and our ability to win large and complex contracts across different sectors and geographies.” Reuters reported that strong order inflow supported profit growth, as the company benefited from a boom in infrastructure spending and reconstruction activity in the Middle East. These factors align with the broadening list of contract wins, which includes projects in energy, infrastructure and public utilities. The company did not attribute profit growth to any single factor, while linking revenue growth to faster progress across its diverse businesses.

By segment, revenue from infrastructure and utilities rose 6% to 25,554 crore rupees during the quarter. Green energy revenue, meanwhile, increased 43% to 11,494 crore rupees, according to figures reported by NDTV Profit. The results show differing growth rates between infrastructure and utilities and green energy. In the first half of fiscal 2026-2027, revenue rose 11% to 146,692 crore rupees, while net profit climbed 24% to 9,325 crore rupees. The first-half figures place the quarter’s performance within a broader growth trajectory for the company during the fiscal year.

The improvement in profit was not matched by a similar rise in operating margin, which fell to 8.7% in the quarter from 10% in the year-earlier period, a decline of about 130 basis points. The decrease indicates that revenue and net profit growth came alongside pressure on the operating margin. Before the results announcement, the investor relations website listed the share price at 3,665.10 rupees on October 27, down 0.40%. The second-quarter and first-half results conference was listed on the investor events calendar for the same day. The company said the global economic environment was marked by “cautious optimism,” supported by demand for AI data centres, infrastructure investment, energy transition, technology and industrial capacity.

Management said West Asia continued to pose varying downside risks to global growth and investment activity. The warning puts regional risks at the heart of the company’s outlook, given the role of international orders in its contract inflow and the Middle East reconstruction activity cited by Reuters. The company had scheduled its results conference for October 27, 2026, at 19:30 India time. The conference gives investors an opportunity to follow details of the quarterly and half-yearly results on the date announced by the company. The multi-year revenue visibility provided by the record order book remains tied to market conditions and the company’s ability to execute contracts in an environment management described as cautious.
