H&R Raises Third-Quarter Revenue 33% to €411.8 Million as Earnings Recover
Key Facts
H&R GmbH & Co. KGaA said revenue rose about 33% to €411.8 million in the third quarter of 2026, compared with €310.6 million in the same period of 2025. The company said in a statement via EQS News that the recovery in sales volumes and earnings began in March 2026. Performance momentum slowed in the last three months compared with the second quarter, however, according to the statement. Preliminary results point to a clear improvement in revenue, profitability and liquidity during the quarter. The company also confirmed that it remains on track to meet its revised 2026 guidance range for earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization.
Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization rose to €47.9 million in the third quarter, from €20.3 million a year earlier, according to preliminary figures released by the company. Operating profit before interest and taxes was €33.4 million, compared with €5.5 million in the third quarter of 2025. Profit before taxes reached €30.1 million, against €2.6 million. Net income attributable to shareholders was €19.9 million, following a net loss of €0.7 million in the comparable period. The company said third-quarter profit before taxes reflected a broader improvement from a year earlier, alongside higher revenue.
The improvement also extended to results for the first nine months of 2026, with earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization at €132.3 million, compared with €60.5 million in the same period of 2025. Revenue for the period rose to €1,112.2 million from €963.7 million. The company therefore recorded revenue and earnings growth over the year-to-date period, while third-quarter results alone showed the continuation of the recovery it said began in March. But the slowdown in momentum in the last three months compared with the second quarter places the quarter’s performance within an improvement trend that did not accelerate at the same pace toward its end. H&R reported these figures as preliminary results.
ChemPharm REFINING was the largest contributor to earnings in the third quarter, the company said, with earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization of €36.7 million, compared with €13.7 million a year earlier. The segment stands out in the results as the largest earnings contributor, with its figure above the level recorded in the corresponding quarter of 2025. PLASTICS, by contrast, posted a loss of €0.7 million, compared with a loss of €1.8 million in the third quarter of the previous year. Segment revenue was €8.7 million, down from €8.8 million. The company attributed the plastics revenue performance mainly to continued strain in the automotive industry, which kept this part of the business under pressure despite a narrower year-on-year loss.
Cash flow also improved in the third quarter, with operating cash flow at €55.8 million, compared with €24.3 million in the corresponding period of 2025. Free cash flow reached €42.4 million, compared with €3.8 million a year earlier. For the first nine months, operating cash flow was €58.3 million, above the €48.9 million recorded in the same period of the previous year. The company attributed the impact of higher net working capital over the nine months, particularly an increase in trade receivables, to the effects of the conflict in the Arabian Gulf on operating cash flow. These figures place quarterly performance and year-to-date liquidity in the same context, while distinguishing the company’s quarterly improvement from factors that affected cash flow over the nine months.
H&R said it remains on track to meet its revised 2026 guidance, which sets a range for earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization of €120.0 million to €145.0 million. It added that updates may be provided during the rest of the year. The guidance follows the announcement of preliminary earnings of €132.3 million for the first nine months, while the annual range includes the two limits set by the company. H&R is scheduled to publish final figures on November 13. The final results will be the next scheduled disclosure in the company’s calendar after the release of these preliminary figures.
