HANZA lifts sales 77% to 2,487 million kronor in third quarter
Key Facts
HANZA reported a 77% increase in net sales in the third quarter of 2026 to 2,487 million Swedish kronor, compared with 1,404 million in the same period a year earlier. Revenue growth was 7% excluding currency effects and acquisitions, the company said in its interim report for January to September. The gap between reported sales growth and adjusted growth puts the impact of expansion and acquisitions in context when reading the results. The report did not include a share price or daily share movement, nor did it establish that results met market expectations. The quarter’s figures focus on business growth, improved profitability and operating cash flow.
Adjusted operating profit rose to 217 million Swedish kronor in the third quarter, from 96 million a year earlier, and the adjusted margin increased to 8.7% from 6.9%. Reported operating profit was 223 million kronor, compared with 124 million in the year-earlier quarter, and its margin was 9.0% versus 8.8%. The comparison shows a broader improvement in adjusted profit and margin, alongside an increase in reported operating profit, while the rise in its margin was smaller. Diluted earnings per share also increased to 1.96 Swedish kronor from 1.69, while adjusted diluted earnings per share were 1.90 kronor, compared with 1.24. The quarter’s profit and per-share measures were therefore above year-earlier levels.
Cash flow from operating activities was 118 million Swedish kronor in the third quarter, compared with 61 million in the third quarter of 2025. In the first nine months of 2026, net sales rose 81% to 7,706 million kronor, from 4,246 million in the same period a year earlier. Revenue growth for the nine-month period was 12% excluding currency effects and acquisitions. Adjusted operating profit for the period was 662 million kronor, compared with 299 million, and the adjusted margin rose to 8.6% from 7.1%. Cash flow from operating activities reached 814 million kronor in the first nine months, compared with 292 million a year earlier. These figures place the quarter within a broader period of growth in adjusted sales, profitability and cash flow.
Commenting on HANZA BMK’s performance, CEO Erik Stenfors said the operating margin improved during 2026 from 7.3% to 9.2%. The company said it integrated HANZA BMK into its regular operating organization on October 1, three months ahead of plan. This combines an improved margin with an earlier integration of the unit into the group’s operating organization. Management said in its third-quarter 2025 report that order intake was "very good" and that it expected organic growth to increase from the fourth quarter. It also expected to reach its full-year margin target of 8% at the time. Those statements provide background on management’s earlier expectations, while the current results cover the period ended in September 2026.
In July 2026, HANZA announced an agreement to buy five factories from Fortaco in Finland, Estonia and Poland. The company said the factories would add about 1,300 employees and annual revenue of about 1.9 billion Swedish kronor, equivalent to about 170 million euros. The deal is linked to the expansion plan the company cited when presenting the effect of the additional factories on its capabilities and market position. HANZA’s management expects to complete the acquisition of Fortaco on November 2, 2026. The company said that, in its assessment, its capabilities and market position after adding the factories would allow it to reach sales of at least 14 billion Swedish kronor by 2028, even without future acquisitions. The figure remains a target the company has put forward as its estimate of what it can achieve after adding Fortaco’s capabilities.
