Infinicon Raises 2026 Forecast After Record Quarterly Sales of $233.3 Million
Key Facts
Infinicon reported record sales of $233.3 million in the third quarter of 2026 on October 27, up 42.4% year on year and 17.7% from the second quarter. The company raised its full-year forecast, setting sales at $820–850 million and operating income margin at 21%–22%. Its previous forecast was $750–780 million in sales and a 19%–20% operating margin. The revision came after order intake in the third quarter exceeded the record level set in the previous quarter. The company said its book-to-bill ratio remained "well above 1," indicating that orders continued to outpace sales during the period.
The semiconductor and vacuum coating segment drove much of the growth, with sales of $135.4 million, up 74.7% from the same period last year and 26.1% from the second quarter. The segment accounted for 58.0% of group sales in the third quarter, underscoring the weight of chip-industry demand in the company's results. Infinicon attributed the continued rise in this business mainly to advanced logic, high-bandwidth memory and data center infrastructure. It said, "Advanced logic, high-bandwidth memory and data center infrastructure remain the main demand drivers behind the continued rise in semiconductors." It added that this growth was most evident in Asia-Pacific and China, where China recorded notable growth in the company's sales.
Infinicon's sales in China were $73.2 million, up 71.7% year on year and accounting for 31.4% of group sales, according to the company's statement. Strong performance in China and Asia-Pacific was linked to increased semiconductor demand, while third-quarter sales overall exceeded the second-quarter level of $198.1 million. Second-quarter sales had already risen 18.3% from the previous year and 9.5% from the preceding quarter, before growth accelerated in the third quarter. In July, Infinicon had raised its annual forecast for the previous time, to $750–780 million in sales and an operating margin of 19%–20%. The latest increase shows the company has raised both forecast ranges again after a quarter of faster growth in sales and orders.
Operating income margin improved to 25.5% in the third quarter, compared with 14.0% a year earlier and 21.3% in the second quarter. But the company said the increase from the previous quarter benefited in part from positive one-off effects, a factor that puts quarterly margin performance in context when compared with the new annual forecast of 21% to 22%. Gross margin rose to 50.1%, from 46.6% in the second quarter and 43.0% in the year-earlier quarter. Infinicon noted that gross margin a year earlier had been heavily affected by costs related to tariffs. Net profit was also $47.4 million, equivalent to 20.3% of sales, and earnings per share rose to $1.94 from $0.71 a year earlier.
Infinicon's results reflect a broader investment trend in semiconductor manufacturing equipment, with SEMI forecasting in July that global sales of this equipment would reach $165.9 billion in 2026, an annual increase of 23.2%. The association's president said spending was accelerating as manufacturers invested in the advanced logic, memory, testing and packaging capabilities needed for the AI era. These areas overlap with the demand drivers Infinicon identified, particularly advanced logic, high-bandwidth memory and data center infrastructure. On liquidity, the company recorded operating cash flow of $77.6 million during the quarter. Cash and short-term investments totaled $220.5 million at the end of the period.
While raising its forecast, the company maintained its warning about operational risks that could affect the business environment, saying the risk of supply-chain disruption "remains elevated." It also pointed to rising cost inflation, particularly in logistics and some materials. Among upcoming dates listed by Infinicon is an analyst visit on November 19, 2026, with fourth-quarter and full-year 2026 results due in March 2027. The company held its third-quarter results conference for analysts and the media on October 27. The new annual guidance remains a focus for investors as those dates approach, amid a combination of strong demand and warnings related to supplies and costs.
