ACC’s standalone net profit fell to 101 crore rupees in the quarter ended September 30, 2026, while standalone revenue declined 4.7% to 56.12 billion rupees, according to results data reported by Reuters. The company booked an exceptional expense of 71 crore rupees for termination benefits under a voluntary separation scheme. Year-on-year, cement sales fell to 9.72 million tonnes from 10 million tonnes, Reuters reported. The results presentation showed consolidated net profit of 93 crore rupees, compared with 1,119 crore a year earlier, and consolidated operating revenue of 5,666 crore rupees versus 5,969 crore. The figures reflect weaker sales and pressure on profitability, with standalone and consolidated figures on different bases.

Reuters said weaker cement sales, higher fuel costs and termination charges weighed on earnings. The year-earlier comparison also included a refund of tax provisions worth 6.71 billion rupees for prior periods, lifting the comparison base. Cement producers faced higher costs for petcoke, coal and diesel, Reuters reported. The report added that weaker seasonal demand and intense competition limited companies’ ability to pass on increases to customers. The pressure comes as ACC’s cement sales volumes declined year-on-year. The exceptional termination benefits charge amounted to 710 million rupees, Reuters reported.

Operationally, ready-mix concrete volumes rose 19% year-on-year in the second quarter of fiscal 2027 to 1.07 million cubic metres, according to an NDTV Profit summary and coverage of the quarterly results. The trade sales mix also improved to 78%, NDTV Profit reported. The indicators show growth in ready-mix concrete and an improvement in the share of trade sales alongside lower cement sales, without changing the annual decline in standalone revenue. Against the backdrop of capacity expansion, ACC said its Salai Banwa project in Uttar Pradesh and Kalamboli project in Maharashtra would add 3.4 million tonnes a year in the first quarter of fiscal 2027. That was the addition timeline set by the company in its disclosure, not an undated expansion tied to the second-quarter results.

In the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026, ACC reported consolidated operating revenue of 7,146 crore rupees, up 17% year-on-year, with cement sales of 11.9 million tonnes, up 8%, according to a company statement. In the first quarter of fiscal 2027, consolidated operating revenue was 5,808 crore rupees, compared with 6,328 crore in the year-earlier period, while cement sales fell to 10 million tonnes from 10.7 million tonnes. In its fourth-quarter disclosure, the company had said pressure from fuel and diesel costs, restrictions on packaging-bag supplies and a weaker rupee had affected results, and that the impact could continue through the first half of fiscal 2027. The average kiln fuel cost was also 1.65 rupees per thousand kilocalories in the fourth quarter, versus 1.47 rupees a year earlier; the company linked higher fuel costs to geopolitical energy conditions. In its first-quarter results, it said the 60 to 90 day fuel inventory cycle could cause peak cost inflation to coincide with the seasonally weaker second quarter.

ACC expects cement demand to strengthen after the monsoon season, supported by government capital spending, housing and infrastructure, Reuters reported. In its first-quarter disclosure, the company had forecast India’s cement demand growth to remain near 5% in fiscal 2027, with long-term support from infrastructure investment, urbanisation and housing demand. On the proposed merger with Ambuja Cements, ACC said completion of the scheme was expected during fiscal 2027, subject to regulatory approvals, after an application was filed with the National Company Law Tribunal on June 29, 2026. Shareholders of both companies approved the scheme on September 29, and the tribunal set November 19, 2026, to consider the application for its approval, according to a disclosure reported by ScoutQuest. The company had announced a board meeting on October 27 and an investor call on October 29 to discuss the second-quarter results. ACC shares closed down 1.65% at 1,147.50 rupees on October 27, according to market data published alongside Reuters coverage.
