Tata Consumer Revenue Rises 14% to 5,661 Crore Rupees in Second Quarter
Key Facts
Tata Consumer Products reported on October 26 results for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, with consolidated operating revenue rising 14% to 5,661 crore rupees. The group’s net profit increased 16% to 470 crore rupees, while earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization rose 18% to 794 crore rupees, the company said. A comparison published by NDTV Profit showed revenue of 5,661 crore rupees against an estimate of 5,583 crore, and net profit of 469.3 crore against an estimate of 469 crore. Revenue therefore exceeded the published estimate, while net profit was marginally above it. The results reflect broad growth in the India business, with performance varying across the company’s categories and markets.
India’s branded business recorded underlying sales volume growth of 11% during the quarter. Growth businesses expanded 40%, lifting their share to 38% of the company’s India business, according to the statement. A leading contributor was Tata Sampann, whose revenue increased 57%, supported by strong volume growth. Revenue from the ready-to-drink business also grew 47%, as distribution expanded, categories moved upmarket and innovation continued. The company said growth in the business was broad-based across its product portfolio. The figures show that growth businesses now account for a significant part of the India business, rather than being only a limited source of quarterly gains.
In core categories, salt revenue rose 15% during the quarter. India tea volumes were stable amid weak category demand, while revenue declined marginally after pricing actions, the company said. Chief Executive Sunil D’Souza said growth in India was supported by higher sales volumes. He added: "This volume-led performance, together with disciplined execution, drove 18% growth in earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization." That puts operating profit growth alongside volume expansion at a time when domestic tea volumes did not improve. The company also announced the launch of 22 new products during the quarter as part of its innovation efforts.
International revenue grew 7% in rupee terms but declined 2% in constant currency against a high base, the statement said. At Tata Starbucks, revenue rose 15%, and the business ended the quarter with 505 stores in 81 Indian cities. The company opened 7 net stores during the period, including 2 Reserve stores. This expansion in the café network contrasts with weak international growth excluding currency effects, alongside subdued demand for tea in India. Growth businesses had expanded 47% in the first quarter of fiscal 2027, compared with 40% in the second quarter. International business revenue in the previous quarter also rose 16% in rupee terms and 3% in constant currency, before registering 7% and -2%, respectively, in the latest period.
The company had scheduled its second-quarter results conference for October 26, 2026, from 18:30 to 19:30 India time. The chief executive said in the previous quarter that consolidated net profit had grown 29%, citing the company’s focus on delivering profitable and sustainable growth. Net profit growth in the quarter ended September was 16%, according to the latest statement. The comparison shows a slower profit growth rate than in the previous quarter, alongside varied performance across growth businesses, India tea and international operations. The results combine revenue and operating profit growth with expansion in the India business, while international revenue declined in constant currency.
