Nvidia shares rose nearly 3% on Oct. 26 after Anthropic filed its registration statement for an initial public offering with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Nvidia closed at $216, compared with $210.96 on Oct. 23, according to EL7 data. Reuters said the stock advanced alongside the filing announcement, as investors watched the startup’s plans to enter public markets. The filing sets the stage for Anthropic to appear on Wall Street next month, according to The Associated Press. The company plans to list its shares on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the ticker ANT. That puts the artificial intelligence company at the center of investor interest in chips and the infrastructure that supports model operations.

The gains extended to semiconductor shares, with AMD up 2.5% and Broadcom up 3%, while the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index rose more than 3%, Reuters reported. CoreWeave and Nebius Group shares also rose 5.7% and 2.3%, respectively, after Anthropic’s filing. Their gains reversed earlier session losses that followed comments by Elon Musk, according to the report. Nvidia shares had closed at $217.09 on Oct. 19, $216.47 on Oct. 20 and $221.97 on Oct. 21. Its closing price fell to $212.21 on Oct. 22, before reaching $210.96 on Oct. 23 and rising to $216 on Oct. 26. These closing prices show the stock’s fluctuations over the previous week, alongside broader moves in sector shares.

The 335-page registration document showed rapid revenue growth at Anthropic, but also revealed that the company continued to post losses, according to The Associated Press. Net losses totaled $80.7 billion in the first half of 2026, compared with $13 billion in the same period a year earlier. The agency said AI companies’ losses reflect the vast resources needed to build the technology. Those costs have raised concerns about a bubble forming in the sector, as companies compete to fund computing capacity and infrastructure. Reuters said a successful IPO by an AI-focused company such as Anthropic could reshape how markets value some parts of the industry, including chipmakers and related infrastructure companies. The offering could also draw capital from major technology companies, as investors seek to allocate room in their portfolios for investment in the field.

Private investors had valued Anthropic at $965 billion earlier in the year, while reports circulated estimates that its valuation could rise to $1.5 trillion or even $2 trillion. But the offering’s final valuation, share price and the amount the company would raise had not been settled, according to The Associated Press. That means the valuations circulating do not represent a final offering price. The company’s losses, alongside its rapid revenue growth, remain among the key figures investors will weigh in assessing it. Following Anthropic’s filing, attention is turning to a possible IPO by OpenAI, Reuters reported. The agency added that the long-term impact of IPOs on AI trading remains uncertain.
