Anthropic publicly filed for an initial public offering on Nasdaq under the ticker ANT, according to a report published by StreetInsider on October 26, 2026. The filing is a step toward an offering, but it does not mean the company’s shares have begun trading. The company reported revenue of $16.3 billion for the six months ended June 30, 2026. Revenue was $1.2 billion in the same period a year earlier. By contrast, the company recorded a net loss of $80.7 billion in the six months ended in June.

The filing came amid gains in AI-related stocks during trading on October 26. Nvidia rose nearly 3%, while Microsoft and Amazon each gained nearly 1%, according to a Reuters report published by Investing.com. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index rose more than 3% during the session. The report said chip and memory stocks climbed after news of the filing. In morning trading, the S&P 500 rose 0.5%, and U.S. stock futures also briefly gained after the IPO filing was published.

Investors see a potential offering as a possible gauge of the market’s appetite for financing the AI boom, as borrowing costs raise questions about debt-funded investment. Peter Andersen, founder of Andersen Capital Management, said the IPO’s outcome would be "a significant indicator of sentiment toward continuing to support capital expenditures for AI development." The Reuters report said market volatility had narrowed the autumn IPO calendar and that higher borrowing costs had heightened investor concerns about the debt-funded AI spending boom. Michael Smith of Allspring Global Investments said attractive opportunities may lie with small and midsize companies able to address infrastructure problems quickly and efficiently. Josh Stephens of Chrysalis Investment Management said he did not plan to rush into buying at the IPO, adding that investors’ reassessment of supply and demand could create more attractive prices later.

The potential offering matters beyond Anthropic’s valuation: it could reshape the market’s valuation of parts of the AI industry, including chip and infrastructure companies, and could attract capital from other major technology companies, according to the Reuters report. The Associated Press, meanwhile, said U.S. stocks were recovering from losses the previous week ahead of results from major companies, including Amazon and Intel. Longer-dated Treasury yields declined: the 10-year yield fell to 4.98% on October 26, from 5.00% at Friday’s close and more than 5.30% at the start of the month. Ahead of the Federal Reserve meeting, the prevailing expectation was that interest rates would remain unchanged on Wednesday, after the Fed raised them the previous month for the first time in 3 years. In September, the Federal Reserve raised its target range for interest rates to 3.75%–4%.

The Federal Open Market Committee meeting was scheduled for October 27 and 28, followed by a news conference, according to the Federal Reserve’s calendar. On the same day, Nvidia shares had risen 2.5% late in the session, helping support the market, while other AI stocks remained volatile amid concerns about borrowing costs to finance data centers and buy chips, the Associated Press reported. Quarterly earnings reports from Alphabet and Microsoft were also scheduled for Wednesday, and Amazon’s for Thursday. Reuters said investors’ focus would then shift to a potential OpenAI IPO. The report added that the long-term effect of AI company IPOs on sector trading remains uncertain.
