Apple acknowledged an issue affecting the inner display of a small number of iPhone Duo units, amid user reports of cracks along the hinge line. In a statement cited by 9to5Mac on October 26, the company said it was aware of the issue and asked those experiencing it to contact AppleCare for a replacement device. The company did not describe this as an automatic replacement for all affected devices, instead tying the action to users contacting support. 9to5Mac said most units of the phone were unaffected. User reports of cracking emerged over the previous weekend.

In a separate availability tracker, the phone's global average delivery wait stood at 79 days on October 26, according to an estimate by Bank of America analyst Wamsi Mohan cited by Benzinga. The tracker estimated international shipping for January 22, 2027, equivalent to an 88-day wait. These dates are estimates in the bank's tracker, not a date Apple announced for when international shipping would begin. In the United States, the average delivery time through carriers rose to 57 days from 50 days the previous week. Carrier delivery waits remained shorter than the average delivery time through Apple's website, which stood at 91 days.

The tracker showed a gap between shipping and store pickup: pickup options returned on October 24, but Bank of America found no stores offering available pickup dates for the phone in its latest snapshot. Apple had announced that preorders would begin on October 16, with availability starting on October 23, 2026. The delivery-wait measurement therefore came days after the announced start of availability. By contrast, the iPhone 18 Pro delivery wait fell to 4 days on October 26 from 8 days a week earlier. The iPhone 18 Pro Max wait remained at 15 days.

The tracker’s focus on delivery waits comes as reports of cracking draw attention to the foldable phone’s inner display and hinge. Apple said the hinge was designed with more than 100 components to control the opening and closing of the device and support the center of the display. It also said the inner display includes a cover layer with a nanoscale texture and a scratch-resistant coating, with high-strength glass above and below the foldable display panel. The company priced the iPhone Duo from 1,999 dollars in the United States. Apple shares closed at 343.39 dollars on October 26, according to EL7 data.
