Sales were 855,037 tonnes in the second quarter of fiscal 2026, representing a 13% year-on-year increase, and rose 29% from the first quarter. The jump followed a 6% year-on-year decline in sales volume in the first quarter, according to LiveMint’s report published on 6 October. First-half performance remained slower, however: sales volume reached 1,707,966 tonnes, up just 4% year on year. LiveMint had noted that first-half growth fell short of the company’s guidance for annual growth of 15% to 20% in fiscal 2027.

LiveMint said a sharp rise in hot-rolled coil prices had made distributors cautious about building inventory, making the effect of prices on margins a factor to watch. It also reported that the company’s sales volume in the UAE fell 55% in the second quarter amid West Asia disruptions; the UAE accounted for 6% of fiscal 2026 sales volume. Excluding the UAE, sales volume growth in the second quarter was 18%, according to the report. Against this backdrop, performance varied between total volume reaching a record and some markets being affected by regional factors and distributor caution. LiveMint also said the stock was down about 3% after the sales volume update was announced on 6 October, ahead of the earnings results.
The company’s first-half profit after tax was 645.53 crore rupees, equivalent to about 54% of the 1,203.08 crore profit for fiscal 2026 as a whole. The company set 26 October 2026 for a board meeting to consider unaudited results for the quarter and half-year ended 30 September 2026. A call to discuss the quarter and first-half results was also scheduled for the same day at 5:00 p.m. India time, organized by ICICI Securities.
