Ather Energy reported consolidated net profit of 1.26 crore rupees in the quarter ended September 30, 2026, compared with a loss of 154.07 crore rupees in the year-earlier period. Its board approved the unaudited results for the quarter and first half at a meeting held on October 26. The source described the result as the company’s first quarterly profit, a limited turnaround relative to its revenue. Revenue from operations was 1,464.24 crore rupees during the quarter. The shift comes as the company continues to report a loss for the first half of the financial year.

Revenue from operations rose 62.9% year on year from 898.88 crore rupees in the corresponding quarter, while vehicle sales increased about 42% to nearly 93,000 vehicles from about 66,000 a year earlier. Sales and revenue growth reflect an expansion in activity during the quarter, alongside pressure on production capacity, which the company is working to increase. Co-CEO Tarun Mehta said demand for the company’s products “more than doubled year on year during this quarter.” He added that the company is expanding capacity in Hosur and at its AURIC plant to meet demand. This operational growth puts factory expansion among the key issues the market will monitor after the results.

The earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization metric improved to 74.17 crore rupees, compared with a loss of 90.76 crore rupees a year earlier, while the margin rose to 5% from negative 10%. This signals improved operating performance alongside growth in revenue and sales. But reported net profit remained at 1.26 crore rupees, negligible compared with revenue of 1,464.24 crore rupees. The company also posted a net loss of 49.83 crore rupees for the first half ended September 30. Although narrower than the 332.30 crore rupee loss in the previous first half, the comparison shows that quarterly profitability did not erase losses over the broader period.

Total income was 1,526.95 crore rupees in the quarter, compared with 940.67 crore rupees a year earlier, while total expenses rose to 1,525.69 crore rupees from 1,094.74 crore rupees. The close balance between total income and expenses in the current period shows how narrow the gap was that resulted in net profit of 1.26 crore rupees. Expenses rose alongside revenue and vehicle sales. The figures highlight the difference between improved operating indicators and the bottom-line result. The first-half net loss was 49.83 crore rupees, compared with a loss of 332.30 crore rupees in the same period a year earlier.

Ather Energy shares moved sharply after the results were announced on October 26, rising 15% to 1,587 rupees and hitting the daily upper circuit limit. Another report said the stock rose 18.79% during trading to 1,643.85 rupees. The share advance coincided with the company’s first quarterly profit and improvements in revenue and its operating profit metric. On the same day, the company approved capital expenditure of 122 crore rupees to expand its manufacturing facilities in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra. The company links the expansion to meeting demand, according to comments by its co-CEO.

The company aims to add annual capacity of 75,000 units at its Hosur plant, with the expansion there due for completion in December 2026. It also plans to add 150,000 units a year at its Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar plant, with completion expected in the second quarter of financial year 2028. The Hosur plan includes an investment of 53 crore rupees in a new battery line to meet demand and diversify the supply chain, which is expected to be completed in the third quarter of financial year 2028. These timelines set out the next milestones for increasing production, starting with the Hosur expansion in December. The larger capacity addition in Sambhajinagar and the battery line are scheduled for completion later in financial year 2028.
