Organic growth adds 6 percentage points to Trelleborg’s third-quarter sales increase
Key Facts
Organic growth added 6 percentage points to Trelleborg’s sales increase in the third quarter of 2026, according to the company’s statement, while structural changes and currency translation each contributed 1 percentage point. The breakdown highlights the sources of sales growth during the period, with most of the contribution coming from organic activity. The company said demand for advanced polymer solutions for the semiconductor industry rose sharply, particularly in Asia. It added that global sales to the aerospace industry continued to perform very strongly. By contrast, demand varied across the sectors and regions in which the group operates.
In the industrial units, demand from the construction sector remained below its level a year earlier, the company said. Medical solutions, meanwhile, recorded good demand from the medical industry in North America and Europe. But sales in this business in Asia were below their level in the corresponding period of the previous year. The divergence reflects differing conditions in the end markets the company serves across regions. The period’s results therefore combined strong demand in semiconductors and aerospace with relative weakness in construction and some medical sales in Asia.
Items affecting comparability recorded a loss of 67 million Swedish kronor in the third quarter, compared with a loss of 72 million a year earlier, according to the statement. The company attributed these items to restructuring costs. This came as management said geopolitical uncertainty continued to affect market conditions in several regions. Chief Executive Peter Nilsson said, "Our business nevertheless demonstrated good resilience." Management said efficiency measures and selective price adjustments largely offset higher costs.
Trelleborg recorded net sales of 9,161 million Swedish kronor in the second quarter of 2026, up 7% year on year, compared with 8,551 million in the second quarter of 2025. At the time, the company described this as its highest sales level in a single quarter. Before announcing its third-quarter results, it forecast in July that demand would remain resilient, though somewhat below the second quarter. It attributed that earlier outlook to a higher comparison base and seasonal factors, alongside continued geopolitical uncertainty. This context places the third-quarter guidance within a trajectory in which the company expected a seasonal decline from the previous quarter’s level.
For the fourth quarter of 2026, the company expects demand to be at the third-quarter level or slightly higher after adjusting for seasonality. But it said the outlook remains uncertain because of the geopolitical situation. On expansion, Trelleborg signed an agreement during the quarter to acquire U.S.-based Cascade, which specializes in sealing solutions and components for the aerospace industry. After the quarter ended, it signed an agreement to acquire U.S.-based Tri-Mack, which specializes in thermoplastic composites for the aerospace industry. The company is scheduled to publish its full-year 2026 report on 29 January 2027.
