América Móvil Posts Revenue of 250.634 Billion Pesos, Profit Rises 7% in Third Quarter
Key Facts
América Móvil reported net income of 24.282 billion Mexican pesos in the third quarter of 2026, up 7% year over year, while revenue reached 250.634 billion pesos, up 7.6% from the year-earlier period. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization reached 102.156 billion pesos, up 8.9%, with a margin of 40.8% of revenue. Revenue and operating profit growth came alongside an increase in comprehensive financing costs, which rose 75% to 22.568 billion pesos. However, Reuters reported that the overall results fell short of LSEG analyst expectations, so the comparison with a Zacks estimate does not mean the company beat analyst consensus.
Operating data showed growth in mobile services, with revenue rising 6.3% year over year during the quarter. Postpaid service revenue increased 7.5%, while prepaid revenue rose 4.3% at constant exchange rates. The company added 3.1 million new postpaid subscribers during the period, with Brazil contributing the most, adding 743 thousand subscribers. Colombia followed with 348 thousand additions, then Peru with 229 thousand and Mexico with 144 thousand. These figures show that additions were spread across several markets, with Brazil leading the group.
In fixed-line operations, revenue growth accelerated to 3.7% in the third quarter, compared with 2.7% in the previous quarter. The company attributed the improvement to growth in broadband and enterprise network revenue. This performance adds to a picture of growth across mobile and fixed-line services during the period, alongside an increase in overall revenue. América Móvil had closed a deal on October 1 for one of its subsidiaries in Brazil to acquire 72.83% of Desktop's capital. The company said the deal strengthens the reach of Claro's fiber network in São Paulo state and improves its fixed-line service offering.
Profit growth was met by a sharp increase in comprehensive financing costs, which reached 22.568 billion pesos, up 75% from the third quarter of the previous year. The company recorded a foreign exchange loss of 3.603 billion pesos, compared with foreign exchange gains of 6.301 billion pesos a year earlier. This reversal in the foreign exchange line weighed on the financial result despite increases in net income, revenue and operating profit. At quarter-end, net debt stood at 400 billion pesos, excluding leases. Net debt to earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization after leases fell to 1.21 times, from 1.52 times at the end of 2025.
The New York-listed stock rose 5.92% to $24.26 on October 21, compared with a previous close of $22.90. The Associated Press reported that third-quarter profit beat Wall Street expectations and also reported revenue of $14.53 billion. By contrast, Reuters said the results fell short of LSEG analyst expectations, while earnings per share beat the Zacks estimate by one cent. These comparisons reflect differences in the market estimates cited by the reports and do not change the figures in the company's disclosure on revenue and net income growth. América Móvil held a call to discuss its financial and operating results on October 21, 2026, at 9 a.m. Mexico City time, while Investing.com indicated that its next financial report is expected on February 16, 2027.
