Stellar launches USDT0 to connect dollar liquidity across networks and expand access

Key Facts

1Stellar announced USDT0 availability on its network on September 2, 2026.
2The USDT0 network had moved more than 100 billion dollars across 29 connected ecosystems by the launch statement.
3Stablecoin transfers on Stellar reached a record 11.4 billion dollars in the second quarter of 2026, up 72% quarter over quarter.
4Stellar recorded about 23.5 billion transactions and 4.3 billion dollars in real-world assets tokenized in the third quarter of 2026.

The Stellar Development Foundation announced on September 2, 2026, that USDT0 is available on the Stellar network, describing the launch as a way to connect dollar liquidity across blockchain networks. USDT0 is an infrastructure that connects Tether’s USDT to multiple ecosystems, not another name for a direct USDT launch on the network. The foundation said the USDT0 network, launched in January 2025, had facilitated the movement of more than 100 billion dollars across 29 connected ecosystems by the time of the announcement. The launch gives Stellar users access to the asset through a unified liquidity channel, according to the foundation’s statement. It comes as the network seeks to make digital financial tools available through multiple channels.

Stellar says USDT0 is built on LayerZero’s OFT standard and does not add a new wrapped representation or a separate custodial bridge. The foundation also describes the asset as maintaining a unified supply backed 1:1 by USDT. Lorenzo Romano, USDT0 co-founder, said the connection enables payments and financial technology companies and treasury management teams to serve global markets "without rebuilding dollar liquidity network by network." The design aims to reduce the need to create separate liquidity pools for each network, according to the statement. Stellar says the deposit and withdrawal channels served by the asset cover more than 170 countries.

USDT0 on Stellar is available through BiLira Kripto, Bitget Wallet, Fireblocks, Freighter, Kraken, Kredete, Lobstr, Meru, Ramp Network and SushiSwap, according to the foundation’s list. The statement said availability through Exodus is expected later. Stellar describes potential uses for the asset including collateral, borrowing, trading and yield opportunities, with further integrations with decentralized finance protocols expected. Developer documentation states that sending USDT0 to an account without a pre-established trustline will fail, an operational requirement wallets and applications must account for when receiving the asset. The foundation did not attribute a specific USDT0 trading-volume figure on the network in its launch announcement.

Earlier Stellar data provide context for stablecoin activity on the network, but do not measure USDT0 alone. The foundation said stablecoin transfers totaled 11.4 billion dollars in the second quarter of 2026, a record level up 72% from the previous quarter, with turnover velocity approaching 33 times. The official third-quarter summary, meanwhile, reports 23.5 billion transactions and 4.3 billion dollars in real-world assets tokenized. These indicators show broader network activity during the two periods, but do not establish USDT0 trading volume or link those figures to its launch. In its second-quarter report, Stellar also said network uptime exceeded 99.99% and average fees were about one-hundredth of a cent.

Stellar said the asset associated with USDT0’s use on its network had a market capitalization of more than 180 billion dollars when the launch statement was published, presenting this in the context of what decentralized finance protocols could build on. The foundation links availability to regions where USDT is widely used and to the potential for payments and cross-border transfers. Among upcoming network dates, the foundation scheduled a testnet vote on the Bell upgrade for November 3, 2026, followed by a mainnet vote on November 23. It also announced that the Meridian conference would be held in Lisbon on October 28 and 29, 2026. These dates remain part of Stellar’s announced agenda, and the statement did not directly link them to USDT0’s performance.
