Key Facts
Crisil reported a 20.2% year-on-year increase in consolidated income from operations to 1,095.2 crore rupees in the third quarter ended September 30, 2026, compared with 911.2 crore in the same period a year earlier. The company's results showed that profit after tax rose at a slower pace, up 5.9% to 204.5 crore rupees from 193.1 crore. Profit before tax increased 5.3% to 276.1 crore rupees, compared with 262.3 crore. The company's board approved an interim dividend of 17 rupees per share at its meeting on October 23. The results put revenue growth alongside a more modest increase in profit during the quarter.
The differing growth rates in revenue and net profit coincided with varying performance across the company's two segments, according to a Crisil statement. Revenue from Ratings Services rose 28.9% year on year in the third quarter, outpacing growth of 16.5% in Research, Analytics and Solutions. Chief Executive Amish Mehta said the quarterly performance reflected the strength of the diversified portfolio and continued growth in domestic and international businesses. He added that the complexity of the global environment is increasing the need for the specialised insights, analytics and solutions the company provides. He also said India's resilient economy continues to support growth opportunities, while the complexity of the global environment is boosting demand for the company's solutions.
The company said third-quarter results included a foreign exchange gain of 2.3 crore rupees, compared with a gain of 15.5 crore in the corresponding quarter of 2025. This represents a decline in the foreign exchange gain recorded between the two periods, alongside year-on-year net profit growth of 5.9%. Crisil presented these figures as part of its quarterly results details, without attributing the increase in profit to a single cause. For the nine months ended September 30, 2026, consolidated income from operations rose 25.7% to 3,228.2 crore rupees from 2,567.4 crore in the corresponding period. Profit after tax for the nine months increased 24.7% to 654.3 crore rupees, compared with 524.5 crore.
For shareholders, the company set October 29 as the record date for the interim dividend of 17 rupees per share, with November 17 as the deadline for payment, according to details in the results materials. In trading, Crisil shares closed at 4,751.10 rupees on October 23, down 0.55% from the previous close, according to Investing.com data. The close came on the day the company announced its results and dividend decision, while the data provided do not include a longer-term comparison of the share's performance. The available session data therefore show only a slight daily decline. The results details did not compare the share's performance with market indices.
Crisil raised its forecast for India's gross domestic product growth in the current fiscal year to 7.0% from 6.6% previously. The company attributed growth opportunities to India's resilient economy, but expected growth to moderate in the second half of the fiscal year. It said the impact of goods and services tax rationalisation is expected to fade, while risks from weak monsoon rainfall and a challenging global environment persist. In the background to its forecast, it said consumer price inflation rose to 5.5% in September. It also reported that the Reserve Bank of India's Monetary Policy Committee raised the repo rate by 25 basis points to 5.50% and adopted a stance of "calibrated tightening," while leaving any further increase or pause dependent on inflation trends.
