AMTD Digital’s TGE Assets Rise 23.3% to $1.8 Billion in June
Key Facts
Assets at The Generation Essentials (TGE), a subsidiary of AMTD Digital, rose 23.3% to $1.8 billion as of June 30, 2026, from $1.5 billion as of December 31, 2025, according to its unaudited interim report filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The balance-sheet growth coincided with the group’s expansion in hotels, as property, plant and equipment rose to $980.1 million from $596.1 million. TGE reported results for the six months ended June 30, posting net profit of $22.8 million. The group had reported profit of $2.1 million in the corresponding period of 2025. The asset and profit figures in the report relate to TGE, not directly to AMTD Digital.
Despite growth in assets and profit, TGE’s total revenue fell to $65.9 million in the first half of 2026, compared with $87.4 million in the same period a year earlier. The company attributed part of the difference to a decline in net fair-value changes on financial assets at fair value through profit or loss, to $25.0 million from $56.2 million. It said in its report that unrealized gains on its investment portfolio were significant in 2025, lifting the prior-period comparison. Thus, the expansion of the asset base coincided with lower total revenue, as valuation returns contributed less to the current period’s results. By contrast, hotel and hospitality operating income moved higher.
Revenue from hotel and hospitality operations and VIP services rose 59.8% to $20.2 million in the six months ended June 30, compared with $12.7 million in the first half of 2025. TGE attributed the increase mainly to the expansion of its portfolio of assets and acquired hotels. The hotel assets cited by the group included properties in New York, Perth, Kuala Lumpur and London. The company said property, plant and equipment increased by $384.0 million, from $596.1 million at the end of 2025 to $980.1 million in June 2026. It also recorded a surplus of $8.5 million from the revaluation of existing properties in the first half, alongside the impact of acquisitions.
TGE completed its acquisition in March 2026 of the Hilton Garden Inn in New York’s Tribeca neighborhood for $69 million, and the property reopened as the “AMTD IDEA Tribeca Hotel.” The group classified the transaction as an asset acquisition, explaining that it did not meet the definition of a business combination under International Financial Reporting Standard 3. The hotel has 151 rooms and suites, as well as more than 5,000 square feet of commercial space, according to an annual disclosure by AMTD IDEA. In December 2025, TGE said agreements to purchase multiple hotels would add $300 million in assets, while completion of the Tribeca deal remained subject to customary conditions when it was announced. The June report showed that the expansion also included hotels in Perth, Kuala Lumpur and London, alongside the New York property.
TGE’s liabilities rose to $872.4 million as of June 30, 2026, from $625.0 million at the end of 2025, while equity increased to $932.5 million from $839.1 million. Total borrowings also climbed to $310.2 million from $259.1 million. The company linked the increase in borrowing to the assumption of debt from acquired subsidiaries and a new $9.5 million, 30-year mortgage loan to support its property expansion. The fair value of the group’s properties was $976.357 million at the end of June, and it recorded a revaluation gain of $8.549 million in other comprehensive income during the first half. These figures, alongside the increase in assets, highlight the expansion of the property portfolio and its funding sources during the period.
In trading, HKD shares closed at $1.72 on October 22, 2026, after closing at $1.77 the previous day, according to EL7 data. The stock had closed at $1.68 on October 16 and 19, then at $1.72 on October 20. Published session data showed a daily decline of 2.82% on October 22, with the shares closing at $1.72. TGE disclosures do not link the stock’s movement in that session to the expansion of its hotel portfolio. The first-half results remain the latest financial figures in the interim report for the period ended June 30, 2026.
