Stablecoin Volume on Stellar Rose 121% in Q3 2026
Key Facts
Stablecoin volume across the Stellar network rose 121% quarter over quarter in Q3 2026, TokenPost reported, as USDT0 availability on the network expanded after its launch on September 2. The figure reflects stablecoin activity across the network as a whole and does not measure USDT0 volume alone. The Stellar Development Foundation announced the asset’s availability at the start of the month, presenting the integration as a way to connect the network to dollar liquidity across a broader ecosystem. This comes as USDT is widely used in Latin American, African and Asia-Pacific markets, according to the foundation. Stellar provides deposit and withdrawal channels covering more than 170 countries, broadening practical access to the asset.
USDT0 is built on LayerZero’s OFT interoperability standard and maintains a unified supply backed 1:1 by USDT, according to a Stellar statement. The foundation says balances can move to and from the network without custodial bridges or separate liquidity pools, allowing partners to add the asset with limited integration requirements. USDT0 co-founder Lorenzo Romanioli said the asset "connects Stellar to Tether’s global liquidity and makes it available wherever users and capital need to move." According to developer documentation, USDT0 connects the Stellar network to more than 26 networks through the same standard. The product page shows monthly volume exceeding $2 billion across networks, alongside support for more than 26 networks.
The launch availability list included Kraken, Freighter, Lobstr, Meru, Bitget Wallet, Fireblocks, BiLira Kripto, Kredete, Ramp Network and SushiSwap, according to Stellar. The foundation said Exodus would become available soon. These channels give users access to the asset through multiple wallets and platforms, while Stellar points to its use in payments and cross-border transfers. Foundation CEO Denelle Dixon said the network and USDT0 "are paving the way for a global financial system in which trillions of dollars move on-chain." Dixon presented this as a direction for the financial system, without specifying a timeframe for that vision.
Q2 figures provide separate context for the more recent stablecoin growth and USDT0’s availability. Stablecoin transfers on Stellar reached a record $11.4 billion in Q2 2026, up 72% from the previous quarter, with velocity approaching 33 times, according to the foundation’s report. These figures do not represent USDT0 volume alone. The report said the network maintained uptime above 99.99%, while average fees were about one-hundredth of a cent and active accounts exceeded 10.7 million. The network also recorded 23.5 billion operations, and total addresses reached 10.65 million in Q2.
Using USDT0 requires setting up a trustline for the asset in a Stellar account before receiving a payment; a transfer to an account without this trustline will fail, according to developer documentation. Holding the coin does not itself generate yield, and any yield depends on the market into which a user supplies it. The documentation says transfers to Stellar typically take about 20 minutes, with the duration varying depending on the network from which the transfer originates. Transactions on Stellar, meanwhile, settle in about 5 seconds, with fees below one cent, according to the foundation’s announcement. These requirements and operational details remain part of the asset’s user experience alongside the expansion of deposit and withdrawal channels.
