Whitehaven Coal increased managed run-of-mine coal production to 10.7 million tonnes in the June 2026 quarter, up 13% from the March quarter, according to its quarterly production report. It ended fiscal 2026 with managed production of 40.3 million tonnes. The annual total represents a 3% increase from fiscal 2025, compared with the quarterly increase recorded in the June quarter. On costs, the company confirmed in its June report that it achieved its targeted annual savings during fiscal 2026. Those savings, on an annualised basis, ranged from A$60 million to A$80 million. In its annual results, Whitehaven reported a decline in unit coal costs to A$132 per tonne. Costs stood at A$139 per tonne in the previous fiscal year, leaving the company with higher production volumes and lower unit costs at year-end.

Whitehaven had recorded a decline in production at the start of the same fiscal year, with managed run-of-mine coal output of 9.0 million tonnes in the September 2025 quarter. That represented a 15% decline from the preceding June quarter, according to the company's report for that period. Sales of produced coal, on an equity basis, totalled 5.9 million tonnes during the quarter, down 1% from the June quarter. Chief Executive Paul Flynn, commenting on the period's performance, said "the weak pricing environment continued during the period". Operationally, the company said flooding affected open-cut mines in New South Wales during the September quarter. It added that improved production at Narrabri partly offset the impact of the flooding, as operational pressures coincided with the weak pricing environment described by Flynn.

In the company's financial reporting sequence, the report for the first quarter of fiscal 2026 covered the September 2025 period. That report was released on October 24, 2025, according to the date shown in the quarterly production report. The September 2026 quarter falls within fiscal 2027. The company's annual general meeting follows on November 5, 2026, according to the date listed in the same calendar.
