Sika Posts 6.1% Local-Currency Sales Growth in Third Quarter
Key Facts
Sika reported local-currency sales growth of 6.1% in the third quarter of 2026. In its results statement published via GlobeNewswire, the company said growth reached 4.8% in the first nine months. The Swiss group kept its full-year outlook unchanged as the construction market remained subdued, according to its chief executive. The company said it continued to gain market share despite those conditions. The period’s results highlight a clear divergence in performance across its markets, with weakness in China’s residential construction market continuing to weigh on the Asia-Pacific region. The statement also distinguishes local-currency sales growth from revenue reported in Swiss francs, which was affected by exchange-rate movements.
Sika said local-currency sales grew 4.8% in the first nine months, while the currency impact on revenue growth was negative 3.2%. Excluding the decline in Chinese construction activity, local-currency sales growth rose to 6.2%, the company said. The gap between the figures reflects the impact of the Chinese market on overall regional performance, as well as the effect of exchange rates on the value reported in Swiss francs. In the first half, the company recorded local-currency sales growth of 4.0%, while organic growth was 2.9%, with acquisitions contributing 1.1%. In the second quarter alone, organic growth accelerated to 5.7% from the first quarter, according to the first-half report.
Asia-Pacific was the clearest pressure point in the results. The region’s sales fell 2.3% in local currencies in the first nine months, compared with a 3.9% decline in the corresponding period of 2025, while the decline in the third quarter was 2.7%. Sika attributed the double-digit decline in China’s construction sector to continued weakness in residential construction. The company said, however, that the region recorded organic growth of 7.7% excluding Chinese construction activity, driven by market-share gains. In the first half, Asia-Pacific sales had fallen 2.0% in local currencies, while sales in the Americas grew 2.9% and sales in Europe, the Middle East and Africa grew 7.7%.
First-half results included an EBITDA margin of 19.0%, up 10 basis points year over year. Net profit was 552.1 million Swiss francs, compared with 554.4 million in the corresponding period of 2025. Chief Executive Thomas Hasler said in the first-half report that investments in innovation, efficient global manufacturing and digital transformation had helped the company continue to gain market share. He added that these investments had enabled Sika to outperform the construction market. The company thus links its operational investments to the market-share gains cited in its nine-month results update.
Sika kept its 2026 guidance at local-currency sales growth of between 3% and 6%, and an EBITDA margin of between 19.0% and 19.5%. It also said its Fast Forward program was on track to deliver benefits of 80 million Swiss francs in 2026, and 150 million to 200 million Swiss francs annually from 2028. The company cited the program as one factor in the background to its performance and outlook. In trading on October 22, 2026, SXYAY shares closed at $22.54, according to EL7 data, which did not link the price to a specific cause. The media conference and analyst presentation for fiscal 2026 results are scheduled for February 19, 2027.
