Kemira Sets Results Broadcast Date and Keeps 2026 Outlook at €400 Million to €500 Million
Key Facts
Kemira was scheduled to present its results in a live broadcast on 23 October 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Finland time, with Chief Executive Antti Salminen and Chief Financial Officer Tuomas Mäkipeska taking part, according to the company’s invitation. The timing comes as the company faces lower profitability in the first half of the year. The information provided does not include third-quarter results or establish that they came in below analysts’ expectations. Nor does it document Kemira share-price movements following the announcement, so no share move can be linked to the period’s results. Investors are awaiting the report to assess quarterly performance against the company’s annual outlook and the pressures cited in its previous reports.
In the first half of 2026, Kemira revenue fell 2% to 1,370.3 million euros, from 1,402.2 million in the comparable period, while earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation fell 14% to 229.0 million euros from 267.3 million. The margin on those earnings declined to 16.7% from 19.1%. The first half combines results from two quarters that showed year-on-year declines in revenue and profitability. In the first quarter, revenue fell 3% to 677.3 million euros, and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation dropped 13% to 117.3 million. The figures show continued weaker performance compared with the corresponding periods, ahead of the third-quarter results.
In the second quarter, revenue was stable at 693.0 million euros, compared with 693.4 million a year earlier, which Kemira attributed mainly to acquisitions. But earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation fell 15% to 111.7 million euros from 131.8 million, and the margin declined to 16.1% from 19.0%. The company said the decline in profitability was mainly due to cost inflation caused by the Iran war and lower prices. The comparison shows that stable revenue in the second quarter was not accompanied by stable earnings or margins. These remain results for the prior period and are not enough on their own to establish third-quarter performance or explain share-price movements.
Chief Executive Antti Salminen said uncertainty had led to weak demand, particularly in packaging, pulp and industrial water businesses, while demand for municipal water remained relatively stable. The company set this weakness against an uncertain economic and geopolitical backdrop. These differences between businesses highlight that demand did not decline evenly across the company’s operations, according to Salminen. The company also said raw-material and logistics cost inflation in 2026 is expected to reach about 100 million euros. Kemira expects price increases to cover about 50% of that impact, leaving the remainder as ongoing cost pressure in its estimates.
Kemira expects 2026 revenue to range between 2,600 and 3,000 million euros, and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation to be between 400 and 500 million euros. The outlook forms the company’s annual framework amid raw-material and logistics cost inflation and weak demand in some businesses. Over the longer term, Kemira targets annual organic growth of more than 4% and an earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation margin of between 18% and 21%. The next financial report listed on the company’s calendar is its 2026 financial year results, scheduled for publication on 9 February 2027. That report is expected to provide a full-year tally against the annual ranges announced by the company.
