Centrifuge Records $3.5 Billion in Tokenized Assets Across 13 Chains
Key Facts
Centrifuge said its multichain infrastructure supported $3.5 billion in tokenized assets across 13 blockchain networks, with 45 assets issued and 11,900 cross-chain transactions settled as of October 15, 2026. The figures show the scale of infrastructure operations that enable fund interests to be distributed across more than one network. The company announced on February 11, 2026, that the V3.1 update was live, saying it had moved the protocol's capabilities into production. The V3 release included a modular fund architecture, chain abstraction and composability through the ERC-7540 and ERC-4626 standards. The October post places these capabilities in the context of the multichain infrastructure's real-world use.
The design separates fund management from the networks on which investors transact. According to Centrifuge's explanation, the Hub layer handles accounting, pricing and permission management, while Spoke chains handle the issuance, transfer and redemption of fund shares where investors and liquidity are located. This division allows one fund to be managed while making its shares available across multiple networks, rather than creating separate fund management on each chain. The company says the infrastructure supported 45 tokenized assets across 13 chains; that total differs from the protocol overview document, which says it operates on 12 chains. The difference reflects distinct dates or scopes for the two published pages, while the October post records the newer figure of 13.
Cross-chain transfers use a burn-and-mint mechanism: the token is burned on the sending network and a corresponding token is minted on the receiving network at a one-to-one ratio, according to protocol documentation. Centrifuge said all 11,900 cross-chain transfer transactions recorded by the date of its post had passed through a multi-provider verification mechanism. The process adds a verification layer to token transfers between networks, while the one-to-one ratio maintains the amount transferred, according to the protocol's description. The documentation also says the protocol had undergone 38 security reviews as of its publication date. The company links these controls to the transfer operations that contributed to the asset and transaction totals published in October.
The expansion comes as companies in the sector identify distribution and liquidity as major challenges for tokenization. In Centrifuge's 2026 survey, 86% of respondents said expanding distribution was more important than launching new products. A total of 76% considered regulatory clarity and liquidity depth the biggest barriers to growth. The survey results provide context for the priorities behind multichain infrastructure, which aims to make a fund available across different networks. They also highlight that expanding access is tied to addressing regulatory constraints and providing liquidity, according to survey participants.
Centrifuge launched its Whitelabel platform on November 12, 2025, targeting asset managers, fintech companies and decentralized finance developers seeking to build and scale tokenized financial products. The platform covers an asset's lifecycle, from issuance and investor onboarding to net asset value accounting, redemption and multichain liquidity connectivity. The company offers two service tiers: Core, a self-service layer that includes the protocol, software development kit and APIs; and Plus, a collaborative partnership involving product, legal and operations teams. Centrifuge said the same infrastructure supports its managed institutional offering, with partners including Janus Henderson, Apollo and S&P Dow Jones Indices. S&P Dow Jones Indices announced in July 2025 that it had partnered with Centrifuge to license the S&P 500 index for onchain investment products, with plans to launch a fund later that year, subject to regulatory approval.
The company recorded growth in institutional activity during 2026, alongside fluctuations in the platform's total value locked. In its third-quarter summary published on October 14, Centrifuge said total value locked reached $1 billion, down 38% quarter over quarter, and that New York Life Investment Management's HYB fund expanded to Solana and Avalanche during the quarter. In August, the company said the onchain footprint of tokenized real-world assets had risen from $12 billion in June 2025 to more than $38 billion, while Centrifuge's total value locked increased from $450 million to $1.64 billion over the same period. It also reported that Janus Henderson and SMT announced an institutional treasury in the third quarter to manage loyalty program reserves. Janus Henderson will manage the portfolio through Centrifuge's treasury infrastructure, with an initial allocation to the JTRSY and JAAA funds.
