Cass Information Systems reported net income of about $10.6 million in the third quarter of 2026, up 16.1% from a year earlier, according to its earnings release. The company posted revenue of $52.696 million for the same period, with profit growing faster than revenue. Revenue rose 5.3% from the same period a year earlier. GAAP diluted earnings per share reached $0.81. Adjusted diluted earnings from continuing operations were also $0.81 a share. The improvement in quarterly results coincided with higher finance fees and transportation dollar volume, alongside a release of credit loss provisions.

In its operating performance breakdown, Cass said finance fees rose 11.8% in the third quarter from the same quarter a year earlier. Net interest margin reached 4.02% during the period, according to the company's official disclosure. Transportation dollar volume also rose 14.5% year on year, outpacing growth in finance fees. The company attributed the growth in those payments to "higher contractual freight rates," explaining the factors that lifted payment dollar volume during the quarter. It added that "fuel surcharges" also contributed to the increase, alongside the impact of contractual freight rates.

On credit, Cass said it released $211,000 in credit loss provisions during the third quarter of 2026. The company also charged off $508,000 on a nonperforming commercial real estate loan, according to the earnings release. The charge-off exceeded the credit loss provision release during the period, as the company recorded net income growth. Unrealized losses in the investment securities portfolio totaled $75.3 million as of September 30, 2026. Those portfolio losses coincided with improved quarterly profitability, while the nonperforming commercial real estate loan remained among the credit developments disclosed by the company.
