Wallets linked to BlackRock funds received 384.77 BTC, valued at an estimated $31.4 million, and 6,334 ETH, valued at $15.19 million, in a movement reported by TokenPost on October 23, 2026. The total value of incoming assets was $46.59 million, according to the report, which cited on-chain transfer-tracking data. But the asset movement was not one-way: the report said BTC and ETH entered the funds’ wallets, while ETH moved from them to Coinbase Prime. This places the transfers in the context of opposing flows, rather than as a standalone signal of buying or selling. The movement also came on a day when U.S. spot Bitcoin and Ethereum funds recorded net outflows.

Spot Bitcoin funds recorded net outflows of $635.6 million on October 22, following inflows of $524.8 million the previous day, according to Farside Investors’ table. By fund, IBIT’s net flow was negative $254.1 million, compared with negative $217.5 million for FBTC on October 22. On the Ethereum side, spot funds recorded net outflows of $110.6 million, following positive flows of $14.9 million on October 21. Outflows included $75.5 million from ETHA and $17.2 million from ETHB. These are daily fund-flow figures, while on-chain transfers describe the movement of assets between wallets; they are separate measures.

Coinbase Prime describes its platform as an institutional system combining execution, financing, custody, futures and staking. BlackRock’s filing says IBIT aims to reflect the performance of Bitcoin’s price and identifies Coinbase as the fund’s Bitcoin custodian. Therefore, the transfer of ETH to Coinbase Prime does not, by itself, prove that the asset was sold on the market; the platform offers multiple institutional services, and Coinbase also serves as custodian for IBIT. Fund data filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission show that IBIT’s net assets totaled $43,386,012,125 on June 30, 2026, compared with $67,401,155,244 on December 31, 2025. It held 734,261 Bitcoin at the end of June, compared with 770,792 Bitcoin at the end of December.

In the broader market, Bitcoin rose to nearly $85,000 overnight before retreating 4% to $81,448 at 17:39 Eastern Time on October 22, according to an Investing.com report attributed to Reuters. The report linked the decline to selling in artificial intelligence stocks and higher oil prices, amid broader pressure on riskier assets. EL7 data showed Bitcoin closed October 22 at $81,416.09, while Ether closed at $2,389.14. Daily closing prices provide a different picture from the Bitcoin price reported at a specific time during the session. The sources do not link this price move to the wallet transfers.

On the fund’s size, an IBIT report filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission showed net assets fell between the end of 2025 and the end of June 2026, alongside a decline in the amount of Bitcoin held over the same period. Holdings data show the fund owned 734,261 Bitcoin at the end of June, compared with 770,792 at the end of the previous year, while net assets on those dates were $43,386,012,125 and $67,401,155,244, respectively. This comparison provides context for the fund’s size, but it refers to two earlier dates and does not measure the impact of October transfers. The Federal Open Market Committee’s next meeting was scheduled for October 27 and 28, 2026, with a press conference on October 28, according to the Federal Reserve.
