U.S. spot Bitcoin funds attracted net inflows of $524.8 million on Wednesday, 21 October 2026, according to Farside Investors, recovering most of the pace of inflows recorded at the start of the week. The total followed a slowdown in inflows to $23.2 million on Tuesday, after $526.7 million on Monday. Net flows into these products remained positive across successive sessions, despite marked differences in daily volumes. IBIT led Wednesday's inflows with $235.0 million, followed by FBTC, which attracted $212.7 million. No fund in Farside's table recorded net outflows during the session, pairing a return to inflows close to Monday's level with an absence of withdrawals across the products.

Wednesday's inflows extended to other products, with GBTC receiving net inflows of $32.6 million, according to Farside. BITB attracted $19.2 million, followed by ARKB with inflows of $9.8 million in the same session. BTC recorded net inflows of $8.2 million. EZBC added $7.3 million in inflows to the sector's total. Inflows were thus spread across a range of funds, although flows into these products remained smaller than those received by the two leaders.

Among U.S. Ethereum funds, aggregate net flows turned positive on Wednesday at $14.9 million, according to Farside, after withdrawals dominated previous sessions. These products recorded net outflows of $103.3 million on Monday, alongside inflows into Bitcoin funds. Withdrawals continued on Tuesday at $26.1 million, although their size declined from the previous session. Wednesday's return to net inflows, however, coincided with continued outflows from ETHA, which recorded withdrawals of $29.3 million. By contrast, ETH led inflows with $28.1 million, followed by FETH with $13.0 million. ETHW and EZET each received about $0.9 million, while MSSE attracted about $1.3 million. Inflows into these products offset withdrawals from ETHA, leaving the aggregate total positive despite differing flow directions among the funds.

For IBIT, the session's largest recipient of Bitcoin inflows, net assets stood at about $68,466,726,987 at Wednesday's close, according to the official BlackRock and iShares product page. The fund's sponsor fee is 0.25%, according to the same page. Daily trading volume reached 50,839,258.00 shares during the session. The median bid-ask spread was 0.02% over the 30-day period ended Wednesday, according to fund data. Net asset value per share rose by $1.10 in the same session. That increase represented a daily gain of 2.35% on a net asset value per share basis. Despite the gain, the fund's total return based on net asset value remained negative at 3.56% for the year through Wednesday.

Against the backdrop of regulatory expansion for these products, the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority approved an exchange-traded fund available to retail investors that invests directly in Bitcoin. The move marks the first approval of its kind in Switzerland, according to the regulator's announcement. The authority granted the fund an exemption from applicable risk diversification rules, citing Bitcoin's long trading history and high trading volume compared with other cryptocurrencies. The approval came with a warning about the risks of the asset in which the fund invests, with the authority stressing that investing in Bitcoin remains "high risk" even through an approved exchange-traded fund. It also warned that cryptocurrency volatility could lead to a substantial loss of capital, pairing retail access to the product with a warning about potential losses.

In the United States, the Securities and Exchange Commission's approval of the listing and trading of shares in a number of spot Bitcoin exchange-traded products dates to 10 January 2024. The in-kind creation and redemption mechanism allows authorized participants to create and redeem shares of Bitcoin and Ether exchange-traded products in kind. The director of the SEC's Division of Trading and Markets said the mechanism "provides flexibility and cost savings to exchange-traded product issuers, authorized participants and investors." He added in the SEC's statement that this leads to "a more efficient market," as part of an explanation of the change in how crypto exchange-traded products operate. On the upcoming agenda, the Federal Reserve holds its meeting on 27–28 October, according to the Federal Open Market Committee's official calendar.
