Norway's Wealth Fund Reports $30 Billion Loss in Q3 2026
Key Facts
Norway’s Government Pension Fund Global booked a $30 billion loss for the third quarter of 2026. Oilprice.com reported that the fund's equity and fixed-income investments were hit by higher interest rates and market turbulence. Trond Grande, Deputy CEO of Norges Bank Investment Management, stated that the fund's return ended slightly negative as rising interest rates led to weaker results on fixed-income holdings.
The fund was valued at $2.35 trillion as of September 30, 2026, with 72.1% of its portfolio allocated to equities and 25.8% to fixed income. While energy sector investments rose, interest-rate-sensitive sectors such as utilities and real estate declined, contributing to a negative 0.5% return for the quarter following a record profit of $185 billion in the first half of 2026.
