Insteel Industries scheduled the release of its fiscal fourth-quarter results for the morning of October 22, 2026, following a quarter of higher sales and lower profit. The company said in its investor announcement that the results were scheduled for release at 6:30 a.m. U.S. Eastern Time. Insteel reported net earnings of $9.0 million in the third quarter of fiscal 2026, compared with $15.2 million in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year, according to its earnings statement. Net sales, meanwhile, rose to $197.7 million during the same period, from $179.9 million a year earlier. Profit fell despite revenue growth as gross profit margin narrowed to 10.2% from 17.1% in the corresponding quarter of fiscal 2025.

Insteel attributed its fiscal third-quarter sales growth to higher average selling prices and increased shipments, according to the year-over-year comparison in its earnings statement. Average selling prices rose 8.0% from the corresponding period, making them the larger driver of sales growth among the two factors cited by the company. Shipments also increased 1.7% year over year, adding volume support to the gains from prices during the quarter. Management had discussed cost pressures, including tariffs, energy and freight, in its fiscal second-quarter earnings statement. It said at the time that it faced "higher tariff costs, significant increases in energy costs and, more recently, a sharp escalation in freight costs," describing expense trends across those categories.

Ahead of the upcoming earnings release, Insteel announced in August 2026 a plan to close its Upper Sandusky plant in Ohio, estimating related restructuring charges at about $4.6 million. According to the company's filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the estimate includes $2.5 million for equipment relocation, the largest component of the expected charges. It also includes $0.4 million in employee severance costs, along with $1.0 million in asset impairment charges associated with the closure. The company added $0.7 million in other facility closure costs to those items as part of its total estimate for the plan. The Upper Sandusky plant was among the assets Insteel acquired from Engineered Wire Products, alongside the Warren facility, also in Ohio, according to the acquisition disclosure. The announced asset transaction was valued at $70.0 million, subject to certain adjustments, according to the deal announcement filed with the commission.

Insteel expected the consolidation of welded wire reinforcement manufacturing operations to eliminate up to 65 jobs at the Upper Sandusky plant, according to the closure announcement. The plan calls for shifting manufacturing requirements to the company's other facilities producing this reinforcement, which it said had sufficient available capacity to absorb the additional volumes. Chief Executive H.O. Woltz said in the announcement: "We do not expect this action to affect the company's revenues," linking management's expectation to arrangements for consolidating production within its plant network. The company set the end of October 2026 as the expected date for Upper Sandusky operations to cease, as part of the closure plan's implementation timetable. Ahead of that date, Insteel scheduled its fiscal fourth-quarter earnings conference call for 10:00 a.m. U.S. Eastern Time on October 22, 2026, the same day the results were scheduled for release.
