Atlas Energy Solutions announced on October 22, 2026, that it had closed a $424 million committed senior secured bridge financing facility provided by Goldman Sachs and Barclays to finance power generation and ancillary equipment for two data center projects. The company said in its statement that it drew $171 million at closing, with further draws to follow as equipment payments come due. The financing allows orders for long-lead equipment to be placed early, according to Chief Executive Officer John Turner. Turner said the move aims to "reduce supply chain risk" associated with equipping the two projects. He added that Atlas continues to work on definitive agreements with the customer and related parties while securing the necessary equipment.

According to the credit agreement filing, the loan has an initial term of 180 days, with an option to extend it by an additional 184 days. The extension requires the execution of power supply agreements for the two projects, lender approval and the satisfaction of other conditions. The loan's pricing includes an interest rate option equal to adjusted term Secured Overnight Financing Rate plus a margin of 2.50 percentage points. The margin increases by 0.50 percentage points after 6 months from the agreement's effective date. The agreement allows the company to request additional financing commitments of up to $286 million, subject to lender approval and other conditions. Atlas, as the parent company, guarantees the borrower's obligations through an unsecured parent guarantee.

Equipment procurement for the two projects is linked to cost reimbursement agreements with a customer Atlas described in an earlier announcement as a "leading frontier AI lab." These agreements earmark the equipment for the customer and facilitate its near-term financing, according to the company's announcement on the equipment arrangements. Ancillary equipment includes emissions control systems, electrical distribution equipment and battery energy storage systems to support the deployment of generators required under Atlas's framework agreement with Caterpillar. In a September 2026 filing, Atlas also announced separate purchase commitments for natural gas power generation equipment from Caterpillar with a total capacity of 283 megawatts, outside the framework agreement. These purchases relate to a project supported by a cost reimbursement agreement with the AI lab targeted as the power offtaker.

Under the framework agreement with Caterpillar, Atlas entered into a purchase agreement for 328 megawatts of generation capacity. These purchases fall within the agreement's commitments scheduled for delivery in 2027, according to the company's announcement on the equipment agreements. The broader framework covers approximately 1.4 gigawatts of additional power generation assets. According to the framework agreement announcement, the scheduled order period runs from 2027 to 2029. Atlas previously announced a 5-year power purchase agreement to provide 120 megawatts of dedicated generation capacity, establishing a commercial precedent for its expansion into dedicated power.

Atlas expanded into distributed power generation markets through its acquisition of Moser Energy Systems, according to its quarterly report. The company completed the acquisition on February 24, 2025, extending its operations into these markets. Atlas reported revenue of $293.2 million in the second quarter of 2026, according to its earnings statement. Revenue increased by $27.7 million compared with the first quarter of the same year. The increase represented quarter-on-quarter growth of 10.4%, according to the company.

Regarding longer-term financing for the two projects, Turner said Atlas intends to fund the spending through long-term financing. He said this financing would be backed by each project's contracted cash flows, according to the statement announcing the facility's closing. The company expects to begin supplying power to the two projects in late 2027. For its next earnings release, Atlas plans to publish its third-quarter 2026 results after the market closes on November 2, 2026. It will hold its earnings call on November 3, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time.
