MBB Raises Profit Margin Target to 22–24% on Friedrich Vorwerk Strength
Key Facts
MBB raised its adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation margin forecast for 2026 to 22–24%, according to its official disclosure of preliminary third-quarter results. The previous target range was 18–20%, before the group announced the revision following improved results for the period. The group maintained its financial-year revenue forecast at 1.1–1.2 billion euros, limiting the change in its annual targets to profitability. The revision follows an earlier forecast increase in July, when the margin target range rose to 18–20% from 15–18%. The group attributed the improvement primarily to its subsidiary Friedrich Vorwerk, which also announced higher revenue and earnings forecasts for the financial year.
MBB's adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation reached 84.0 million euros in the third quarter of 2026, according to the group's preliminary results. That represents a year-on-year increase of 24.7% from adjusted earnings of 67.3 million euros in the corresponding quarter of 2025. Quarterly revenue, meanwhile, was steady at 318.1 million euros, compared with 316.8 million euros in the same period last year. The adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation margin reached 26.3% in the third quarter, according to the group's official disclosure. Earnings growth thus came with quarterly sales remaining close to their year-earlier level, while the quarterly margin exceeded the group's new target range for the full financial year.
At Friedrich Vorwerk, earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation reached 80.9 million euros in the third quarter, according to figures reported by Investing.com. Earnings rose 58% from the 51.3 million euros recorded in the same quarter last year. The subsidiary's quarterly revenue reached 228.3 million euros, while its earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation margin reached 35.4%. Friedrich Vorwerk attributed the improvement in profitability to a higher contribution from joint ventures and a lower materials cost ratio, according to its official results disclosure for the period. These results place the subsidiary at the centre of the improvement reported by MBB, which identified it as the main driver of the group's increased profitability.
For the 2026 financial year, Friedrich Vorwerk raised its revenue forecast to a range of 760 million to 790 million euros, according to Investing.com. The company also raised its earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation forecast to between 220 million and 230 million euros for the same year. The subsidiary's update covered both sales and earnings targets, following quarterly results showing higher earnings than in the corresponding period. At the parent group, the annual revenue range remained in place alongside the higher expected profit margin, according to MBB's disclosure. The forecast revisions thus differed between the companies, with Friedrich Vorwerk raising its revenue and earnings targets and MBB focusing its revision on the annual margin.
Friedrich Vorwerk is one of MBB's subsidiaries, according to the subsidiary's page on the group's official website. MBB held a 40.48% stake as of 31 December 2025, the ownership date specified on the page. According to the group's description of its business, Friedrich Vorwerk benefits from "the growing need for investment in energy infrastructure in Germany". This description links the subsidiary's business to investment needs in Germany's energy sector, providing the backdrop to the operations that generated the reported quarterly results. In its third-quarter results, the company identified the contribution from joint ventures and the materials cost ratio as the drivers of improved profitability, while MBB attributed its improvement primarily to the subsidiary's performance.
During the first nine months of 2026, MBB's adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation reached 201.1 million euros, according to the group's disclosure. Revenue over the same period reached 854.1 million euros, as part of the preliminary results it announced for its operations through the end of the third quarter. On the group's balance sheet, net liquidity stood at 793.4 million euros at the end of the third quarter, according to the official disclosure. The nine-month figures thus bring together the operating results reported through the third quarter and the liquidity balance recorded at the end of the period. MBB set 12 November 2026 as the publication date for its full quarterly report, following the preliminary figures and the increase in its profit margin forecast for the financial year.
