Edenred beats revenue forecasts at 725 million euros, helped by mobility
Key Facts
Edenred reported total revenue of 725 million euros in the third quarter of 2026, beating analysts' forecasts, supported by growth in its mobility business. According to Reuters, the figure exceeded the company-compiled consensus forecast of 709 million euros for the period. Quarterly operating revenue also beat estimates, reaching 667 million euros against a forecast of 658 million. The group's performance reflected continued growth in mobility as its employee benefits business faced pressure from regulatory changes. The company attributed the decline in that business to changes to meal voucher regulations in Italy and Brazil, according to its quarterly results statement.
Despite beating analysts' estimates, quarterly total revenue remained below the 726 million euros recorded in the third quarter of 2025, according to the comparison published by the company. Revenue fell 1.3% on a like-for-like basis from the same period a year earlier. Operating revenue growth, meanwhile, reached 6.6% excluding the effects of the Italian and Brazilian regulatory changes from the quarterly performance calculation. Edenred included this adjusted rate in its results, measuring business performance without the impact of changes to meal voucher rules in the two countries. This coincided with growth in mobility, while employee benefits declined under the impact of the regulations, according to the company's explanation of its segment performance.
In employee benefits and engagement, operating revenue reached 424 million euros in the third quarter of 2026, according to figures announced by Edenred. The group linked the decline in the business to what it described in its statement as "regulatory changes", referring to meal voucher regulations in Italy and Brazil. Those changes affected the voucher business, which the company cited in explaining the decline in employee benefits during the quarter. The payment solutions and new markets segment reported quarterly revenue of 41 million euros, according to the revenue breakdown published in the statement. This revenue contributed to the group's third-quarter operating revenue alongside employee benefits and mobility.
Mobility supported the forecast beat, with quarterly revenue rising to 202 million euros from 173 million in the corresponding period of 2025. The segment grew 10.7% on a like-for-like basis, according to Edenred's third-quarter results for the current year. On a reported basis, mobility revenue rose 16.3% from the same quarter a year earlier, according to the statement. The company attributed the business's growth to strength in what it called its "traditional fuel card business", which supported the segment's performance during the period. It added that higher fuel prices made a marginal contribution to this growth, alongside the strength of the traditional card business cited in its explanation of the results.
The quarterly results follow Edenred's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization of 616 million euros in the first half of 2026. In its results for that period, the company had announced a reduction in net debt of 0.6 billion euros compared with the end of the previous first half. On creditworthiness, Standard & Poor's affirmed the group's A- rating with a stable outlook in July 2026, according to the first-half results announcement. In trading before the quarterly results announcement, Edenred shares closed the 20 October session at 29.22 euros, according to Investing data. The shares fell 2.57% that day, ahead of the release of third-quarter results and details of the group's segment performance.
For the full year, Edenred set an updated range for earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization of around 1,220 million to around 1,260 million euros. The company said its updated annual range included the impact of transaction-related changes to the group's scope in its 2026 guidance. It also reaffirmed its annual target for the ratio of free cash flow to earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, according to the results statement. The minimum target for this ratio is 35% for the year, alongside the annual earnings range announced by the group. Edenred's financial calendar scheduled the release of its 2026 financial year results for 2 March 2027, when it will present its full-year performance following the current quarterly results.
